Try this as a last ditch attempt :

1) Right click on the setup file (assuming u have a full setup file on drive ~12.7Mb, if not download it from link posted by me some posts back) and click on properties.

2) Check the compatibility box, click apply then ok.
3) Run this setup and install it again.

Great then Yahoo Messenger 9.0 is not for u! BTW, what version of vista do u use, Ultimate?

using the preinstalled home premium. i guess ultimate got nothing that would come to my use... you should have an idea. should i get rid of home premium and install ultimate?

Nope Ultimate has nothing which is actually useful.............I myself am on Business Edition, Home Premium has almost all useful features what Ultimate has to offer.The much hyped Ultimate "Extras" were a flop...........

i know that they are yet to arrive. i checked and noticed that business editions mostly have networking tools like remote desktop which i have no use for.home edition has media center which would be in ultimate. i might or might not ever use it

Apart from Networking it also has backup feature which is missing in home versions of it.

Ultimate Extras are not yet to arrive, they were dished out and it turned out to be just a big hype not worth it. None of the extras are actually worth the high price of Vista Ultimate.
