I bought dish tv on march with 6 month free subscription. Now my subscription period is over. I am not able to see any pay channels, star, zee or anything.. But i am able to see all the fta channels (sun, raj, raj digital, ss music, kalaingnar, wintv, jaya tv, dw tv, cnn ibn, ndtv news, enter10 etc.. some 40 fta ) for past one month. is that true, one cannot see fta if we dont subscribe for any dish tv packages..??I am planning to subscribe to maxi pack this december(to see aussie tour). Will they charge me for october and november also(i dint subscribe any pack):ashamed:??

After your subscription is over and if won't renew your subscription then you will not be able to watch all pay channels (ie pay channels are blocked) but able to view some FTA channels for around 7-10 days and if you won't renew in that period also then all the channels will be blocked for you and you will not be able to watch any channels.

In my opinion they won't charge you for Oct- nov.

My subscription got over since oct 15 th. I think they might block fta this week.. :(.. guess... i might need to subscribe this weekend..

What is that true?? No... my uncle had bought Dish TV during its launch some 2 yrs back. He got one year free subscription and now he does not subscribe to any of Dish TV's package and he is still able to view FTA channels. 30 Channels. You can still view FTA channels if you have a STB and a Dish. There is no such thing like trying to block you from viewing those channels. Then what does the term FREE - TO - AIR mean??

FTA means Free-To-Air. Some channel providers broadcast their channels FTA and earn revenue from commercials (Like Aaj Tak, NDTV India, ZEE Music, DD Channels and many others). While PAID channels earn revenue from viewers by viewers paying for watching (STAR, Sony, ZEE, NEO, ESPN)
About DTH providers also it's same. While DISH TV earns revenue from its customers therefore it encrypts it channels so only authorised paying viewers can receive channels from their service (even if channel is originally FTA), So some FTA channels are not free on DISH TV (or Tata Sky)
While DD Direct+ gets its revenue from Channels so it provides its service free and therefore its channels are not encrypted and can be viewed by any FTA Set top box

why don't you input a new PIN and unlock the channels. that's it. if you are satisfied then go for subscription.

may be cheat codes :p
If someone can watch it that way then why to subscribe

All the channel content is not available, breaking it with a code to use it trial for say 10days after that you buy the subscription or the smart card for that channel.
