Thanks @abbyck, I get IP addresses from the subnet 27.0.252.0/22 or 117.215.x.x or 117.218.x.x ranges. As per BSNL, apparently these subnets cannot use the main fuptopup.bsnl.co.in. Also, good to know that the password change actually works for you.

Now I guess I need to raise one more complaint saying the alternate URL provided does not let me change the password.

And the username for the alternate link would be the full username like [email protected], I hope you tried that.

In Kerala we're experiencing power outage due to rain. My LCO is providing only a few hours(About 5-6hrs) of power backup for their equipments. Is there any minimum amount of time that the lco has to maintain their equipment active during power outage?

@abbyck Wow, the LCO providing 5-6 hours of backup itself is outstanding IMHO :) I don't think there is any such guidelines set by BSNL. I guess the only motivation for the LCO would be complaints from customers (and the fear of losing them). Atleast in my area, the number of households subscribing to internet services are minimal, however since they use the same line for TV and there are lot more TV customers, so if they demand more backup, maybe you can get them to increase it.

However, how many households would have power backup which lasts more than 5-6 hours in the area? I think that number would be low, so the chances of the LCO increasing the backup capacity is slim.

Hei, guys, I am new on this forum and using BSNL's Bharat fiber 1277 plan. My place is Kothamangalam in Ernakulam district from Kerala. I got this connection through Keralavision cable operator and they have there on broadband plans also. Why my isp name shows Keysystems ltd instead of bsnl? Ip starts with 27.0.xx shows that name. is there any performance difference using static ip address? Keralavision's ftth does not have vlan. Is there any advantages using vlan in bsnl ftth technology?

@arunkadambanattu I'm using it in Perumbavoor and see the same Keysystems Ltd in speedtests, and get the IP address from the same block. Its just the name of the BSNL franchise, BSNL appears to update the contact info of IP blocks to the name of the franchise but everything else is through BSNL and the IP address is announced by BSNL itself. You can see many such names if you look at the prefixes BSNL announces -- https://bgp.he.net/AS9829#_prefixes

No real performance difference when using a static IP address, I guess it just gives you more leverage in getting any sort of routing issues fixed (just my thought). Although depending on how the static IP address is implemented, you might be able to avoid the PPP authentication which could give you a tiny performance boost.

What do you mean Kerala Vision doesn't use a VLAN? Whether you choose Kerala Vision service or BSNL service, both get delivered through the same fibre, and VLANs need to be used to separate the traffic. In case of BSNL, it's just that voice comes over one VLAN and Internet over a separate VLAN, similarly Kerala Vision internet would be over a third VLAN, that's all.
