Rumored Reliance Jio Fiber Broadband Plans

@undercover Are you talking about just IPTV or GIgafiber as a whole i.e. no commercial launch?

Launching without IPTV would be a disappointment. One of the attractions of Gigafiber is the Triple Play services.

They won't be launching for now.
1. There is shortage of dual band ONTs
2. Broader testing for IPTV has not started.
3. They won't be launching with IPTV for sure.

Their backend team is pathetic.

I am asking for a connection since 13 June . The fiber terminal box was installed on 15 June in my neighbour building till now the ports are not enabled and not marked as ready for sale because of this jio executive not able to book or give connections. He is saying it will be enabled next week for past 3 weeks.

@Vishal | Chennai Don't listen to what they say. They have their own methodology of going live in an area and most sale managers are unaware when they will go live. They had set up the box in my locality on April 1st week 2019. I got the connection on May 30th. My friend's locality got the box in mid-April itself however the services are still not live there.

So it's very difficult to guess on how they decide to make an area live for service.

it depends on number of people salesman is able to get into jio before enabling that terminal. shitty practice I know but jio fiber isnt official yet bear in mind

@dextermorgan I don't think that's the case. The connection can only be booked once the area goes live (area should be showing green in their app). I asked him how are they deciding to go live. He said its not in their hands, the decision is done from above. Their job is just going to the houses and book the connection once the area goes live.

The decision is taken on the basis of an average number of people living in that area, the average size of houses/ number of apartments and market rate for renting houses in that area/locality. That's what he told me, take it any way you want.

^ Im going by my own friends experience in pebbl city hyderabad. his area was green and jio people approched his society to install jio only if minimum 8 people sign up.

jio fibre is taking so much time like they are inventing some new technology, yes they are launching a service which is not available in India at a large scale but still they are in beta phase like forever and it doesn't look like its going to be completed anytime soon.

That wasn't the case in my experience. No such precondition was presented before giving a connection to me. My locality is a small one around 20-22 houses in total. I am the only one who has got the connection in my locality.

Once an area goes live, it doesn't make sense to impose such conditions because you have already activated the service. Even 1 or 2 users are still greater than zero.

To those asking for commercial launch. Commercial launch is not a big deal. The key is expansion of fibre. According to executive not even 20 percent work is completed on pan India level in past 3 years. Commercial launch will not bring fiber to your place overnight.

Today I contacted the sales executive he told backend team will not enable one or two terminal box at a time they will wait for hundreds to be accumulated and enable it in batches. And for past 3 weeks he keeps on saying with in a week it will go live to comfort me. But I don't think so according to some users here in this thread for them it took approximately 2 months for enabling same case applies for my place also I think 🤔

They are getting good number of bookings because the sales executives are giving assurance of free services for next 6 months.

Nope. I can see they are installing boxes and cables even for one user. According to sales man, if they got necessary permission from houses they are willing to lay fiber and give even a single connection
