if VIL goes then it is Considering the 4g speeds i was getting with VIL ,i am not keen on porting . I have used both jio and airtel but both are just plain shit as compared to VIL here in kerala. I really hope they survives.

@philip I think 3G/4G speed is secondary when what you risk is a sudden network deterioration. And especially with VoWiFi introduced by Airtel and Jio (VIL is patchy in this roll out I believe?) data can be had over the WiFi/broadband. You will not face QoS issues even in poor coverage areas as long as your handset supports VoWiFi and your BB connection speed is at least 20-25 Mbps or higher. Higher the better of course.

Of course, to port out or not is entirely your call but I would encourage you to consider it seriously in order to prevent any communication outages and to avoid the inevitable rush that will result if VIL comes under the Insolvency and Bankruptcy code and heads for liquidation. Things aren't looking good.

My Jio speed just now I would be lucky to get a fraction of this on vodafone.😒

No way you'll get 22 Mbps down on VIL. I know so many of my friends who are really pissed with VIL for just that reason. You are lucky, I get 16-20 Mbps (Jio) at best outdoors on my balcony.

PS - Just checked outside before leaving for work, it is 13.2 and 5.57 Mbps down and up respectively. Thanks Jio. SMH. And I can bet these 2 networks Airtel and Jio will get bogged down even further when the exodus from VIL starts. They are already operating at >80% capacity.

in Areas VIL has completed integration its super good otherwise worse than others . I am getting 30 mbps in indoor ,with VIL sometimes it goes up to 60 mbps early morinings . No operators can provide that much speeds indoors...

Can a person on VodafoneIdea postpaid MNP to Airtel prepaid? Is this allowed?
Oh yeah. Prepay extra amount on your postpaid, put in a port request. Once you get the UPC, no need to tell the truth to the new operator ;). They can't find what service you were one on earlier and it is none of their business. Just tell them you were on Voda Prepaid and want Airtel prepaid. End of story. Natak khatam.

It is extremely patchy even in turbonet cities. I was in Kolkata last month and I was getting slower speeds than I would get in Mumbai( Supernet). Their own speedtest showed around 29Mbps D/l, 9 Mbps u/l and 14 ms Ping. This was at the Airport where they have excellent coverage. Inside the city, it was terrible.

I guess it is then it depends on circles and the amount of spectrum they have in various circles.

I'd definitely port. Had faced lot of issues during the RCOM CDMA debacle. First all CDMA users were migrated to Reliance GSM which had no coverage, and then we were not getting the UPC to initiate a port request. Finally after multiple nodal officer escalations, got the UPC and initiated a port out request. The number was in a company's name which was then defunct and that also caused delays (had to submit a no objection letter in the company letter head etc).

Anyway I'd definitely port out and not wait till the end especially if its a primary number.

Im not gonna port out of Vodafone if they exit only ill port out because no other provider in kerala is providing speeds like VIL Airtel, Jio struggling at 2-4mbps maximum during day times and VIL gives easily 30-50 mbps during peak hours also min 20mbps i can't imagine going back to Jio and Airtel my whole family has Vodafone sims because of these issues and everyone's happy
