Hops are basically intermediate route(through nodes) taken by data packets to reach the final destination.

Eg. when you request ping or request then through which nodes(route) your packet gets travel is hop. So less hops generally means better.

if you use Linux/Mac then "traceroute" command else for windows use "tracert".

So to reach google server my data packets passes through 10 intermediate node before reaching me vice versa.

PS: I am behind NAT (Vodafone 4G)

Also coverage is not only one factor which can affect the speeds, pings etc. you also need to consider user congestion, load balancing capacity of the tower site, etc.

Eg. For Jio I get best signal -65dBm then Vodafone but due to congestion I get poor speeds as compared to Vodafone where signal is relatively weaker then Jio.
@devangpatel Thanks for the information. The speed of idea 4g is good around 15 Mbps both download and upload . There is also no load at the tower as I get this speed throughout the day.

ping will be usually be higher on wireless broadband or mobile data.

it is not a fiber connection for the pings to be in single or double digits.
@witguru Bro I just want usable ping and not asking about 1 ms . Now I get around 180 ms ping.

Horrible ping.

DNS is not a proxy server . Infact Proxy servers which I assume you use free ones often slow your internet down.

Avoid proxy servers as they are not much of advantage to your network. As the Covid situation has already put load on the Internet which slow it down

I suggest you go with DNS change

1.Cloudflare DNS - 1.1.1.1
Fast and Reliable DNS ....also has a server in Mumbai ....so not much latency issues

2. OpenDNS - 208.67.222.222

If you want to block websites
A slight slower than Cloudflare ...its very slight ...you wont notice it

Both are good with privacy and you can trust them

I am an Idea user so I experience problem while my uncle uses Vodafone he was getting 45 to 50 ms latency. I live in Vodafone circle (UP East). I also get roaming while I am not roaming and my volte disappears on roaming.

I am getting latency of 25-40 in opensignal app but while gaming it's too high on vi 4G . What can be the cause?
