If you only use http/https you can get a domain name and use cloudflare as proxy

Yeah, with my setup, all my web-facing applications are behind Cloudflare. But due to routing wizardry, I rarely see an improvement in speed (except for the caching which doesn't really benefit from my workload).

Oh well, think I'll need to wait for some sort of sale or find some decent re-sellers for Leaseweb.

Check out andy10gbit and walkerservers both have very cheap servers.

The actual speeds with servers are much better than test files for some reason.

Try their Falkenstein DC, I have used it for a long time and have got better single-threaded speeds using that.

It also seems to be directly peered via De-CIX Germany, eliminating any third party bottlenecks.

Unfortunately, Falkenstein is even worse with Excitel (2-3mbps). Seems Excitel has trash peering.
