I read an article regarding jio's standalone 5G core, it seems like jio true 5G is not that much true. Jio is using software update rather hardware upgrades to their existing core network. Is that true?
I’m assuming that invites will be sent to random users and will gradually open to all based on the following criteria- Jio SIM, 5G phone, active plan, Active 5G radio enabled site. Having said this I belong from Kolkata and have not heard anyone receiving 5G both in AirTel & Jio including business districts.
My guess, they went live with 2-3 sites per city and gradually upgrade this by Dec 2022 to cover most of the city population in metro circles.
I’m using iOS so for both these carriers will need a carrier update separately. Read somewhere Apple is testing this for AirTel and expect the carrier update by Diwali, did not hear specifically anything from Jio.
Most of the social media videos on 5G speed tests are from Indian Mobile congress fest / test sites.
I have an Huawei CPE Pro2 5G device even that hasn’t received any carrier update and also skeptical after all this Huawe tussle.
