Hey Guys, I just want to share a bad experience with ACT broadband Bangalore. I stay in Horamavu area in Bangalore. I paid three month rental in advance to make sure I get uninterrupted service. From last three days my broadband is not working. I made several calls to customer care, the same reply "Sir give me 15 minutes, I will get back to you". They say this knowingly that customer care do not have permission to call and customer, they can only receive the calls. Few people called but do not give any satisfying response. Everyone says I will get back to you in 15 minutes and then disappears. I tried calling their manager (Gyanendra) and his manager (Prakash), the answer was same, I will get back to you. They block the mobile number, they don't pickup the phone and if you call from some unknown land line number they will pickup and say the same thing "I will get back to you in 15 minutes" and then disappear. I sent mail also from their website, got call also from their and the same reply "I will get back to you in 15 minutes". I have to use internet from outside as it is vital for me due to some urgent work, but whatever it takes these people do not understand. I never expected such a bad service from ACT, I have decided to disconnect it, even if I loose money. I suggest NEVER to go with ACT broadband, at least if you want uninterrupted service. If you can manage without broadband for a week or so then you can opt for it.Lalitesh

well i registered just for this...

ok so i called 5 days ago to the customer care...the guys says the sales rep of the area would call me and fix an appointment...

so the next day the guy calls me and tells me that he would check the feasibility and call me back in 30 mins...ok i wait and wait for 2 days and no call...so i call customer care as the sales rep wont pick up the call...and the customer care guys checks and SAYS THAT ITS feasible (dont know how he knows that) in my area so i tell him to ask the sales rep to call me the same evening (like thats gonna ever happen)...

and again 2 whole days later no one calls at all...

man i mean come on i have been using BSNL for the past 6 years and my experience was not this bad...if i had any problems they would atleast fix it in 3-4 days or atleast from the line man i would get the updates...the only reason i want to move to ACT was for the speed...

so the month end is here and i dont want to be billed from bsnl for another month while using another service and i know that the setup time is another week or 2 even though they say 4-5 days...

SO i'm still wondering if the sales rep is still checking for feasibility???

another 3 days later still no response...all the customer care can say is that the sales rep will be in touch soon...which never happens

WHAT'S THE REAL SPEED OF ACT BB PREMIUM 10Mbps PLAN?Firstly, thanks to this thread and all the guys who posted their experiences. I had been ardently following this thread since the day I started considering ACT. Finally, it was a flip-of-a-coin decision.I have been using the 10Mbps plan of ACT BB since last week. The initial thrill of seeing a 10Mbps connection verified by speedtest.net was amazing, but my personal streaming experience somehow did not match up to the promised blazing speeds of 10Mbps. I ended up thinking it must only be remote server constraints causing that, because speedtest.net kept comforting me with the 10Mbps download and upload speeds.Yesterday, I decided to try out other bandwidth/speed measurement online sites, around 15 of them. Tried them one after the other, with speedtest.net results as well, each round. I did this over the last two days at multiple times. The result was almost the same.Speedtest.net : ~10Mbps CONSISTENTLY (download and upload)ALL OTHERS : ~3 to ~6Mbps (some pathetically low which probably was non-averaging measurements)This really makes me believe that ACT servers are assigning PREFERENTIAL QoS to certain speed check sites like speedtest.in, the true bandwidth for consumers (atleast me) is not even close to 10Mbps.Will appreciate if anyone else using ACT BB 10Mbps plan can try other speed test sites and post their experiences. ACTian, you had been quite helpful in the installation and activation of my connection. Please let me know the real story here.Regards!

We are not fools here to think that all the reviews here are genuine. I call this spamming, and admins should to something? They should get rid of these sort of stuffs. Many reviews here are fake, and everyone can make out which is fake/not.

have you reported any of the fake reviews? you expect me to go through all posts on all threads to check for fake threads? i do not usually check out act or beam sections because i have little to no interest in them.

I don't know whether this fellow-member (Mreccentric) addressed my review as fake. If so, I don't really understand why, especially without even verifying. I'm not here to offend anyone's feelings. This is my first post here, though I have been following this thread for a while. I had just registered now in order to post this and truly understand if anyone else is seeing different speeds other than the promised 10Mbps. Probably ACTian can reply, he will be able to identify me as a subscriber, we have had email discussions in detail.I'll shortly post two snapshots one of speedtest.net and other from OOKLA itself but of another site.

Go to Consumer Forum and put their ar*es on fire! It works.

By the way, disconnecting and switching to another ISP is not going to solve your problem because more or less they are same. What are you facing I faced with both Hathway and YouBroadband. They both suck. I threatened them and YouBroadband as penalty added few weeks to my balance and Hathway reduced my due bill (I had refused to pay) to ZERO.

I am back to BSNL. Strange enough BSNL is the only ISP in Bangalore that I have found to give uninterrupted service. Though their plans are not as oomphy as it should be with time.

As a follow-up of my last post, the following are the speeds I am seeing on my 10Mbps plan on ACT. Note, I have tried these sites multiple times over yesterday and today, and it yields very similar results. Comparing 1 and 4 (both from OOKLA but different sites) is especially what makes me suspect ACT servers provide a preferential QoS for speedtest.net. Have any of you tried alternate speed test servers?

1) This site uses OOKLA, and on this site the download speed is 1Mbps compared to the 10.22 Mbps OOKLA's speedtest.net site shows

2) bandwidthplace

3) internetfrog

4) finally, "speedtest.net"

I didn't address anyone, but i think we can make out which is fake/which is real. It appears that some people register with Indian Broadband Forum just to review ACT Broadband. I know, the job of chromaniac is tuff. I couldn't report one, because there are many post which appear to be fake.
@needforspeed , did i specifically say about your review? i might have said about some other posts. Why you interfered?

^ looks like a fake account

Thanks for the clarification. The reason why I took time to register and post is to request someone using the ACT 10Mbps plan to verify this, and if seen, make ACT aware.

I have posted my screenshots of different speed test sites, I don't think the moderator has approved it yet.
@chromaniac, please publish my last post.

Cheers!
