Which handsets would work with this Airtel 4G network?

@chromaniac

Telecom companies couldn't make 3G affordable after all the expectations. Remember that 3G offers excellent Bandwidth but no telecom company offers any good plans to unlock full potential of 3G. Now people are rushing expectations on 4G. I don't have much expectation after experiencing 3G debacle.

Anyway, there are simple things Govt can do to have digital revolution overnight. One key thing is fiscal stimulus for telecom industry.

1. Start by moratorium on pending spectrum payment of telecom industry. This will free up their balance sheets to make aggressive investments to expand and improve their service.

2. TRAI Raise minimum broadband speed to 2 Mbps by this years end.

3. For period of next 5 years - Wave off taxes on all imported commercial Broadband Infrastructure and equipment. Wave off all taxes/fee on establishment of Broadband network. Let Telecom industry establish Broadband network across India with minimum hassle.

4. Stop the nonsense of milking the Spectrum cow. (Vinod Rai was an idiot). To make telecom services cheaper at customer end, the upfront spectrum fee should be reduced drastically. Instead of auctioning of Spectrum in future, base it on revenue sharing model. Attract as many players to make a competitive market.

5. Overhaul BSNL/MTNL and other state owned enterprises. Restructure it on model of Private company in terms of service quality. Make it run on basis of no profit-no loss basis. Goal should be to establish broadband network specially Rural India which is neglected by private telecom sector. Kick out lazy non performing BABUS. Hire competitive people who can produce results instead of sleeping on their chair all day.

6. Open special credit facility for Telecom industry specifically for Broadband business (private as well as State) in which National Banks should lend Telecom industry credit at very low interest rates and long maturity. Goal is to make India one of the leading Internet player in emerging markets.
