We have got JioFiber installed in our area and they have started promoting that connections are now available.
Liked the way they have setup the fiber on electricity poles and added distribution boxes after every few 100 meters.

Is Jio Fiber worth it with current offering?
What are the main pros and cons for this?

My questions
  • Initial charges? 2500, 1500 refundable from this?
  • What type of ONT/wifi device do they provide?
  • Details of STB?
  • They mentioned plans starting at Rs 1001, It has triple play services of phone, internet and cable included
Other option is a LCO who provide FTTH but has random issues disconnection of ONT and this requiring ONT restart as it won't auto reconnect. Some fibre issues 1-2 times a month.

Thanks!
I meant to ask if anyone has tested the upper limits of the wireless speeds, in terms of router capability?

I'm not able to locate any model specs. So was wondering if I go for their Gold plan, can the router deliver up to 250mbps wirelessly?

(I'm not planning to use wired lan, and will be using internet only wirelessly.)

My current ISP router gives 300mbps wirelessly (on 5ghz band).

Ok I got this answer from a local Jio engineer, sharing here in case anyone else is wondering.

The 1st generation router, given out during initial trial launch, was single-band and can only deliver around 40 mbps wirelessly. If you have this, you can raise a service request and Jio will replace it with the latest version.

The 2nd generation router, given out during later half of 2019, was dual-band and can deliver up to 150 mbps wirelessly - not an issue if you have Bronze or Silver plan. But if you sign-up for Gold plan or higher, you'll have to pester Jio support to replace your gateway with the latest version (they wouldn't do it willingly).

The latest generation router, being given out from December 2019 onwards, can deliver around 320 mbps wirelessly, when connected to 5 Ghz signal. You'll need to use wired connection for anything faster.

(I don't have the model number for the routers.)

I don't think it's that great. Shitty upload speed is a major con. I was very happy with what they were providing during the promotion period. But now it sucks. There is a combo plan Jio plan of Rs. 940(234.82 a week) a month. Gets you 4000GB data. This is the only plan that I think is okay. Speeds range bw 50-100 Mbps down and 2-9 Mbps up. Doesn't give you anything besides the internet which is okay w me since I don't care about the other services they are giving with their other plans.
I'll switch soon to Airtel.
