hi,my internet is working fine, buti cannot access 192.168.1.1 for my router settings!!!!!.wht to do?:wall:. i m using a ut300r2u modem by mtnl.i m currently using bridge mode.i m planning to buy Belkin wlan router(g[mimo] range) dont know much detail about it.i m gonna setup wlan network at my home and so i think i will have to switch over to pppoe mode,is there a solution to keep my bridge mode ON(i hv used cyberwiz guide fr bridge mode).bridge mode is very stable, but the problem is that when i connect my cell phone and my laptop on open adhoc mode they get connected but my cell phone cannot access internet?? is there a solution for this or will i have to give up on bridge mode and switch over to pppoe mode for wireless internet?pl do include the normal settings fr pppoe mode like primary, secondary dns addrs etc. would make my job easier ty.

What i understand from your post is that your MTNL modem is already set to "bridge mode" , that means your PC does the authentication for the PPPoE.Now you want to add a wireless router so you use wireless internet. cool....here is what you can do...1. Since your MTNL modem is in bridge mode, you won't have do anything on the modem, whatever you have to set is on the D-Link router, ie PPPoE settings. So your router takes care of the authentication going forward and not your PC.2. Your cell phone can also connect to the internet once you get the router up and running.3. If you still want to try the adhoc mode for your cell phone, i believe you need to turn on internet connection sharing on your PC.4. Inspite of all this you still need to the connect to the MTNL modem then there are two options. option a - FACTORY RESET THE MODEM option b - configure your laptop with following static ip settings 192.168.1.100 -- ip addres 255.255.255.0 -- subnet mask 192.168.1.1 --- default gateway..see if the above options work for you.

^^ty fr the help option b worked the router settings r up but now one Q. can i keep my modem given by mtnl in bridge mode and the new wlan router i get will it allow access to internet by mobile even in bridge mode??

Yes you can leave your MTNL modem in bridge mode no problem. Configure your router to do the authentication in PPPoE mode. So make sure you know your userid and password you got from MTNL, you will need that while configuring your router. Now as long as your mobile phone has built-in WIFI capabilities, you can connect to the internet. The MTNL modem is completely transparent in this case.Let me know if you need more help, pls provide the router model you are buying..

consider i did put my modem in bridge mode and router in pppoe mode but when my computer is not on and i wannna connect to internet via wifi thru cell is it possible??the reason i m worried is coz my plan is 849 nu and i download torrents so i need to stop downloading before 8am!!
