2.1 Desktop Speakers | Bluetooth - Under 20k

I want to buy some decent desktop speakers with Bluetooth connectivity options.

Currently I have an ancient Philips 2.1 system, and one of the satellite speaker has stopped working. If it hadn't died, I would still be willing to use it.

Looking for something that won't take a lot of space, can be put on desktop or wall mounted. When I am at it, might as well consider something that will save me from the wire menace.

Budget? Under 20k.

Initially I was considering getting bookshelf speakers, Edifiers. The ones you have linked, and even S1000DB (they’re huge ). But I wanted a wireless sub which cannot be added later. The reason I bought a soundbar is that the movie watching experience is incomparable. I found something terribly lacking while watching movies on M601DB.

what about the Sony ht-s20r?
I am not that much interested in soundbars since I saw many credit threads saying soundbars or HTIB, in general, are not that great and worth the money so I am a bit skeptical
I have also kept the Logitech z623 in consideration
but I am absolutely confused right now what should I buy

I ruled out Z623 because it’s archaic and doesn’t have good mid range. Doesn’t have Bluetooth.

I genuinely wanted bookshelf speakers, and was going to order Edifier S360DB, because it has a wireless subwoofer but it is available at a very high price. Can’t justify spending $499/ INR 39-40k on them.

I even found a great deal on R2850DB (used but under warranty). But they’re HUGE, definitely not meant for desktops. I was about to order R1855DB, but then I started checking out soundbars and I learnt that in order to get good audio, first of all you need HDMI or optical connections.

Edifier requires optical connection (it also offers AUX and RCA inputs), and my PC doesn't have that output, nor could I get a decent soundcard. So I started exploring soundbars, and compared many systems. This is when I came across Yamaha YAS 209, and found out that they are known for balanced sound quality. I have also considered getting Yamaha HS8 speakers, and the infamous Sony SSCS5 bookshelf speakers, but this kind of a sound system requires investment (not just money). Maybe I will revisit this in the future.

From my experience, Yamaha YAS-209 lives up to the positive reviews. I like watching movies on them, knowing the audio experience will be better on a soundbar that supports Dolby Atmos. But I am content with what it has to offer. I also noticed that the sound output from the soundbar itself, can be a little underwhelming (so I turn down the bass, and increase the overall volume) if you are listening to classical music compared to bookshelf speakers, but the audio doesn't lack character by any means. It's pretty good. There have been some tradeoffs, but I am more or less content with YAS-209.

I have the S40R that comes with wireless surround speakers (by wireless it means there's no wire running from the surround speakers to the main unit).

I'm quite happy with it. If you need to know anything specific let me know.

bruh, I just realized the s20r has a wired satellite speaker as well as a subwoofer I thought it has a wired subwoofer and wireless satellite

S40R is a huge upgrade for me, coming from a cheapo Blaupunkt 2.1 channel soundbar. I use it mostly to watch content on OTT platforms like Netflix, Hotstar, PrimeVideo, etc. as well as locally stored content played via Plex/Kodi. It has a pretty solid bass, the surround effect is also pretty good. Dialogue clarity was a huge issue on Blaupunkt which is no longer the case due to a dedicated center speaker in the soundbar.

S20R is 400W while S40R is 600W.
