3G Mobile Hotspot Working when WiFi disabled on PC

I was just checking this feature called 3G Mobile Hotspot on this Android device.I enabled it and in a moment my PC discovered that there is a new wireless connection available.I am not sure why is it so, as WiFi is disabled on my PC :mellow:I can even connect to the network and surf using this connection. Eh?
 
mobile hotspot functionality was added to android 2.2 and it is supposed to work like that. your PC definitely does not have Wi-Fi disabled if it was able to detect your phone. is your phone connected to the computer using the USB cable? because hotspot works through the USB cable too!
 
Windows 7 is clearly showing that Wi-Fi is enabled on your machine. Do not trust the Intel's app. It is probably not detecting your Wi-Fi properly.

As for the phone, I am able to enable tethering with Wi-Fi itself disabled.

Also noticed something funny today. My phone is showing 3G connectivity when I am not subscribed to a 3G plan. I hope they have not switched me to some 3G plan and this is just a visual fluke. :D

speedtest tells me i am getting 4-5KBps so i am not really getting 3G speeds. :D

maybe this is the reason why my phone is eating up too much battery these days. it is using the 3G band while still delivering 2G speeds. :D
 
Actually, some days earlier my PC detected an unknown network named Kamal, I was like :|

This is not happening, huh.

3G is activated on my Airtel number and am getting;
