4G Band related question.

Snapdragon too unfortunately, should have waited for the mediatek dimensity
You are fortunate enough to have Snapdragon and Redmi phone. Snapdragon 732G is very much good chip. You can flash the custom rom(according to your customization needs) along with root and one good kernel. Download network signal guru and lock the band to whichever you want. You will get much better battery life. Band 1 and band 8 gives good battery life where do you stay. I have tried this with Redmi Note 10 Pro(6-7 hours of screen on time on average usage, after rooting, band locking to band 8 and flashing a kernel, it goes upto 10 hours atleast) and Mi11X(5 hours on an average and 7-8 hours after locking the band along with good kernel) Battery life increases by 2 hours easily. You can't lock the band in Dimensity powered chipsets. Didn't test Poco F3 GT but apart from that Realme X7 Max and Realme X7, I couldn't do it.

Trying this since 2016 starting from Redmi Note 3 and OnePlus 3T. So confidently can say this having flashed lots of custom roms as well on various phones. MIUI eats battery life as well.

I am talking about Mumbai and Vodafone core Vi sim. Airtel is shit in Mumbai with voice traffic through band 8 and only band 40 working properly. Band 1 is 1*1 MIMO and band 3 is useless. Jio is nothing to talk about with all voice traffic going through band 5. Only band 3 works properly and that too if you have 4*4MIMO device for band 3 like Mi11X/OnePlus 7T. It will give you 50-65Mbps throughout the day on Jio.

Its basic physics and the correlation between wavelength and penetration power. Band 5 (800-850 Mhz) is most efficient indoors. As we go higher, penetration power reduces so more battery is required to get proper signal. Jio is using Band 5 earlier owned by RCom (and also MTS taken over by Rcom) from the CDMA days.

@TheAndroidFreak I don't buy a phone to root and mod, I buy the phone for its stability and day to day work requirements.
If it can't do simple things properly then it's just a piece of metal/plastic for me, rooting and custom os stuff was good when I was in school or college, now it's a hassle and unnecessary.
6-7hrs of SOT is good enough for me as long as it's bundled with a fast charger, and I'm not interested in band locking, since it defeats the purpose, now I'm not looking for best performance 24*7 but I atleast expect it to work as intended when I need it, but it seems even something as simple as this many corporations fail to.

Samsung A series and Realme Pro series are the only good options you have left with(A52s and S20 FE 5G are best phones out there after Moto Edge 20 Pro). Maybe Motorola. But Moto with Snapdragon only. Rest of the phones don't have stability. Infinix/Tecno and Micromax phones are good but Infinix has software issues, otherwise pretty good value for money. 256GB model was available with fast charger and 5000 in 13-14K last month with card discount. Infinix Amoled phone launching this month in India. So pretty much looking forward to it. I already have device but want to see retail unit. Then it will be good competition under 20K. Moto is launching too. G71. Micromax good with software not so good with hardware. Realme since start provided good software and hardware. Let's see in January. What Realme brings to the table with Realme 9 Pro Plus(snapdragon 870 and 65Watt charging is what I am expecting at 22-23K). It will kill everybody to be honest.

@SVK,having used Samsung phones from Exynos 7870 to Exynos 9611, I still say avoid phones with Exynos processor. The processor you mentioned in your post is present in S20 FE 4G version as well. I used that device for three four months and experience was horrible. It was heating mess. Snapdragon chips don't have this problem mostly. Exynos heats up and slows down performance. Even latest top tier Exynos had this problem. Second thing with Exynos powered Samsung phones, they slow down after six months or twelve months. Even though Software is improved leaps and bounds, this problem exists even today. Samsung adds lots of bloatware in their phones through updates. You should uninstall or disable this completely. But A52s and S20 FE 5G are currently best value for money phones from Samsung. I wish Samsung should have put these phones with aggressive pricing. Snapdragon and Samsung is best combination in my opinion. A73 is coming with snapdragon next year(Mostly snapdragon 778G and 108MP main camera). S22 will come with snapdragon series processor and rest will be mediatek. So try to buy snapdragon + Samsung. Otherwise move towards snapdragon plus Redmi Note series or Mi with snapdragon. Moto off late produced killer phones in India. But nobody seems to be buying them. Moto G40 Fusion and Moto Edge 20 Pro are killer phones for the price. Moto phone with snapdragon 898 is also great phone for the price. Hopefully it launches in India by May under 50K. It will kill all the competition.

@TheAndroidFreak I am very much into Samsung's ecosystem, so I would not leave Samsung sooner. I own S20+ and like Samsung apps like Email, Calendar, Secure Folder and Phone (calling).
I am looking forward to S22 with Snapdragon (if Samsung launch with that), else will decide for A series with Snapdragon.

I am not saying don't use Samsung. Samsung with Snapdragon is so far good experience for me. A73 will come with Snapdragon 778G which is good chip(I used so many phones with it). I hope S22 series comes with Snapdragon 898. At the end of month it will clear, what Samsung brings in country. Snapdragon 898 remains to be seen. I will get hands-on Mi 12 and Moto Edge X30 with Snapdragon 898 by the end of month. Will soon post review of Snapdragon 898 and it will make easier for you between S22 or A73. Snapdragon 898 is exclusive to Samsung foundry and 898+ is exclusive to TSMC foundry. Let's see how it performs.
