Even if it is a big fail, 3G data prices in India are still very less compared to most countries. 4G will require different mobile equipment and prices would be even higher.
You cant just speak Keeping MTNL in your mind.

This was very old news and they actually gave up most of the dispute, but still Mukesh Ambani had invested comparatively less in 4G as compared to Anil Ambani for 3G. So, definitely 4G prices would be quite cheaper as compared to 3G.

oh yes actually someone already Mentioned on this Forum Earlier.. Airtel bought 3G License in 13 States for 12,000 Crore but Infotel Bought 4G License for ALL Circles at the same price. So i Expect a GB For Rs 100 Or lesser.

Small Introduction on 4G Services:

4G (Forth Generation Networks)


Everyone’s focus now turns towards 4G because of its data rate. In high speed mobility communication it offers 100 Mbit/s (Such as trains or cars) and low mobility communication or fixed accessing would results 1 Gbit/s. This is a major revolution in wireless access technology.

It’s very much equivalent to getting a LAN or Gigabit Ethernet connection to a mobile device.


4G provides all IP communication with high speed access to smart phones, tablets, laptops and any mobile smart devices. Theoretically speaking this 4G access speeds are much more than Cable or DSL technologies in the sense 4G is faster than ADSL, ADSL2 or ADSL2+.


Once 4G is launched and if you have at least 54 Mbits/s (Worst case) download on your mobile handset or tablet, you can run any internet application as you do in desktop computers. For example you can run Skype, YouTube, IP TV apps, Video on Demand, VoIP Client and many more. If you have any VoIP client installed on your hand device you can make VoIP calls from your mobile. This is going to kill the mobile voice market soon. At the same time you can subscribe to any local numbers to your mobile VoIP client and start receiving calls on your mobile via IP.

You can use video calls over IP and have face to face meeting on go. You can make free video calls to your wife, girlfriend or even can have a video conference meeting while you are travelling if you are connected to 4G.

The 4G technologies in use are flash OFDM, 802.16e wireless or mobile WiMax and HC SDMA, UMB and Wi-Fi.

Before we talk 100 Mbit/sec or 1 Gbit/sec -(sure we have constant 7.2 mbps im some 3 G providers.Reliance claims 21 mbps .Any one who gets say around 14 mbps in reliance -please rise your hand)
what is the average consumer (upper middle class) willing to spend on say 10-20 GB 3G data (right now I will sAY MAX RS 1000 Budget)leasantry:
people with more modest means are happy with GPRS say 2 GB @ rs 150 budget /month.
Voice -average user is still below Rs 200.But let us say business people and well helled people spend around Rs 760-1000 /month on voice.

Reliance company was previously slow down their 4G plans but they, finally reveal that they are soon going to launch their 4G network service in December. By this action from reliance, other telecom industries stated planing to launch their 4G network in the first quarter of the coming year. The company has chosen the LTE technology and they are very bound about their security clearance.

There are two company that power 4G or BWA technology and they are LTE and WiMax. They offer lightning fast speed Internet (or wireless broadband) that can access more than 100mbps speed. The best part of the technology is that it supports both GSM and CDMA network.

Bro, This Video answers your query. It clearly says that In Motion we would be getting 3-5 Mbps and on Wifi and Static postion we would be getting 100 Mbps.

ARPU is actually not so impressive.

All India Average Revenue Per User (ARPU) is Rs. 275. Post-paid ARPU is Rs. 632. Prepaid ARPU Rs. 230.

CDMA: ARPU (prepaid+postpaid) at Rs. 173. Lowest ARPU is in West Bengal (Rs.127) while the highest blended ARPU is in Mumbai (Rs. 274)

But as we know broadband wireless access (BWA) services raised a total of $5.5 billion, roughly half of the $11 billion raised during the 3G auctions. So we can expect cheaper and faster service of 4G as compared to 3G.

firstly plz forget about 100Mbit.....just like 3G/3.5G claims 21/28 mbps but gives 3-4mbps 4G/LTE will give 10-12mbps at most.As most of u know this 100mbit is shared BW hence the speed decreases with increase in no. of active users + add propagation losses. One can expect 30-40 mbit only for brief periods of time.But is so bad? definitely not with 4x more spectrum, 10-12 mbps it is much better than what we have at present. It can & will demolish bsnl's ADSL empire and seriously shake Airtel as well. As in India most use BB just for surfing migration will be quite high, heavy downloaders may not go.At last it also boils down to the FUP's given by BWA players. :mask:

(Seriously — speeds are lower in the rain.) The backhaul connection from your cell tower to the wired Internet is critically important; for the best speeds, you need fiber. The wireless frequency used affects building penetration, beyond the technology being used. Even the processor and OS of the device you're using comes into play.

Data speeds of LTE Advanced:
Download - 1 Gbit/s
Peak Upload - 500 Mbit/s

Data speeds of LTE:
Peak Download - 100 Mbit/s
Peak Upload - 50 Mbit/s

This is the theoritical speed of LTE and LTE Advanced. So in no way we should expect lesser speed of 3-5 Mbps on a dynamic movement and 100 Mbps on Static position. Also not to forget that 4G works purely on IP Based architecture and MIMO Transmission .

I think I saw some video where 4G speedtest was done on a Sprint Connection at different places the speed was not going above 10mbps. This is what will happen in india i guess.:cursing:

Nopes u ar getting it a bit wrong, practical values will be 10-12 mbps is fr static users & 3-4 mbps for dynamic users.

This values are of course standardized to India as one should expect a lot more active users per cell site than western countries:flag:. Or in simple words people use wireless medium for torrent dwnlds/wireline bb replacement and all such stuff which lower the per user bandwidth..

Now there is again a difference here between 3G and 4G which is bandwidth. One of the major advantage of LTE is bandwidth. Will get back soon with details.
