its true, although the wording of the add isn't perfect. the plan is actually the Home 999 plan. But for new customers, instead of 256kbps, they are givin 512kbps for 12 months. i was pretty pis**d, cause i had recently shifted to 999 plan.
an exec. came over to my house thinking i'm not a user yet. Upon callin cc, they said its company policy. i cannot complain much, cause i too am using some freebies they gave when i took the connection, stuff they dont give anymore

(ps i stasy in lok puram, thane)

Whoops!

WTF???!!?? Airtel has launched 512K Unlimited???

I'm migrating to it ASAP!!!!!

Better call up their CC and confirm if this plan is available for Tamil Nadu also.....
They're gonna tell that its only announced in the North and not for south!!! :(

Last time I called them this was what the guy said abt Double Bandwidth @ Night times....

Anywayzz.... right now I'm parallel dialling Airtel CC's..... ;)

God PLease send me Bandwidth!!!!

Jus called up the CC..... This is what the guy said...

512Kpbs Unlimited plan is for Rs.10,995 per month and they guarantee minimum 512kbps.......

No 512kbps Unlimited plans for Tamil Nadu users..... :(

2Mbps plans have come up with NO Free Night Usage!!!

Has Airtel gone crazy??? Introducing Plans like 2GB, 1GB Download limits and givning 2Mbps speedss????

Wht the hell is happening here with Indian ISP's????

I think i am starting to give up on broadband in this country. What makes this issue even worthless is the promise of the freaking IT minister and all that they could come up with are these. I dont understand how is it possible to come up with these plans. Anybody who understands broadband wouldnt give a shit about these plans. Do they think that they can increase broadband penetration through such crappy efforts ?

 I have said this before & I will say it again..Not all use broadband for downloading & stuff.. They are lots of people who use it just to check mail, browse casually & chat . for them 1 GB - 2 GB for around 500 is quite sufficient. Those are the target audience for these plans. So, my friend - in my opinion, we should all forget having any hopes of such high-speed plans unlimited & take it as & when they come. I know many would disagree but the sooner we accept the realities it is better.

I totally agree with mhsabir. The broadband plans provided by any of the ISPs are just meant for people who have minimal data requirements which primarily consists of email, chatting and browsing. There are no plans that any self respecting mass downloader like myself and most of us can call satisfying.I don't we should abandon all hope. Such plans will reach is eventually. As a matter of fact, BT Broadband in the United Kingdom also doesn't have an unlimited plan. However, their plans range from 10gb to 60gb data limits, with speeds of 8mbps. I know some website says that its unlimited, but go to the BT website and make sure for yourself. I'm not that sure about the other providers over there although, I do remember one provider giving and 8mbps connection with a 1gb data limit. So the only thing we can do is wait. For how long, no one can say.

These people don't need broadband. They would hardly notice the difference between a 256 and a freakin' 10mbps dedicated line.
And if that's the majority, I'm sorry to say, maybe we're all wrong, India really doesn't have the demand and a good number of 'real downloaders' required to penetrate broadband.

And that includes you regualr streamers too. Those who watch videos (youtube), or would like to listen to online radio stations also come nder real downloader section.

What does that prove anything? Let that BT be the Sify of UK, I could bring out tons other ISP's operating in UK with Unlmited plans, really, don't try to make the scene here look good by comparing it with rejects from other countries.

I know how u feel, even I really want a better plan. Besides, I'm not talking about the Sify of the UK. I'm talking about a service provider that is like BSNL.Why do you think we should have something that is on par with the rest of the world when nothing else in our country is?Consider that the 'Broadband' revolution started only recently here, then consider how fast we have come to where we are now. I don't think waiting a little while longer should be that bad a prospect.India does have a large number of people who demand faster unlimited connections, and eventually we will get what we want.

It will hard enough to catch up to the Chinese, who are now the second largest Net population, with "economies of scale" that will drive any capitalist stark raving drooling mad. Consider this - their Internet revolution started about the same time as India. And they do not allow ANY private players in the ISP business. Consider this and weep![/b]

India has been officialy owned.

The offer is 100% valid, I can see it right in front of my eyes.. its printed on official airtel's tariff card or brouchure whatever people may call it. It is for new customers and for 1 year. I have just applied for it on my dad's name (he will be considered as new customer afterall as current connection is on my name)I will update you guys on the speed front as the new line gets installed at my place...Deep
