Damn you lucky few....I never experienced any speed burst, must be some temporary glitch or something. I agree with ziegfield, if airtel was going to give us anything close to 2 Mbbs unlimited broadband they would have not stopped ranting and bombarding us with anoucnments. As some of you had come a notch closer to experiencing what broadband is really like.... would you wanna go back? iSP"S watch out our voices are only going to get louder.

How many kinds of stupid are you? Write to the UN? Whats wrong with you? Been sniffing glue or what?[/b]

didn't know some people have problem with humor..

write to your ISPs nodal officers (contact info is there on every bill) and keep pestering them until they wisen up. Write to anyone you know in the press. If they pick it up, then the private players will definitely sit up and listen.[/b]

i presume you have been doing that yourself what you have said. thanks on behalf of this country.

Did you do anything to change your downstream and upstream? Does it still show 2560? I am also in Delhi, never got the speed surge, and my upstream downstream show 578 and 256.... Can this be changed manually to 2560 or is it automatic?

Ok........I love this !!I had just turned to the net to find out why my Airtel connection had suddenly gone bonkers and was giving me 100 KBps download speed last night on torrents ( I was a surge virgin till then ) ....and I stumbled onto this site, and more importantly, this debate .... and I totally, totally agree to param7 and Ziegfield's points ...... I mean as I was reading those posts I kept on thinking I'll add this or that but anything that I wanted to say has been said in their subsequent posts .....*Speechless*P.S whats that wiki all about?

Which points of param7 and Ziegfield's?

The Indian perception that what we get is good enough because after all we are a developing nation so we should be content with what we can get i.e consumer apathy which the ISP companies exploit to the hilt, the fact that we pay more for our 256 Kbps connections than Americans pay for their T1 lines, that we need the 2Mbps lines NOW rather than 2 years down the line and so on......

I've been on 256 since almost 2 years, Sify introuduced 256 a year ago. No sir, you need to stop pulling claims out of your ass since its going overboard now. Indian ISP's have been haulted at 256 MAX since a couple years now. In fact I don't even remeber going on 64, I jumped straight from dailup to touchtel 128, then Sify 128, then Airtel 256 - Mostly unlm plans.[/b]
You really are a thick head. Using yourself as the reference. Anyways i'm not surprised by that comment as everything revolves around "I' for you. . It's about how many users had easy access to the 256 kpbs.It is only now that 256 k is becoming a standard norm but it's still not there yet.

Broadband Revolution started Worldwide around in 1999-2000 in Major Countries, its 2007, and yet it can't be seen in India.[/b]
Yeah , India was one of those major countries then.

In any case, lets take for example, China starts its BB foundation from 2000 onward, India steps in around 2003. 3-4 years gap? Can you vouch for the fact that we'll be rolling on 2mbps-10mbps UNLM 3-4 years from now and that too with actually decent Customer Service and less downtime?
You can't.[/b]
You can't ? We will see that in 4 years from now. I love this forum and i'll still be using it in the future. I hope the mods store these threads as i'll need them to shove up your arse the stupid assertions you made.

At the pace these ISP's are upgrading their speeds, its going to easily take more than 5 yrs to get to anywhere near 2mbps unlm. Calculate the avg time that has taken us to rise to 256 from 64.[/b]
I have to go to a particular address which is alien to me. So i get there by asking for directions and using the little information that is available to me. After a few weeks i have to visit the same place again. It will take me almost the same time as it did earlier.

Its Vice Versa. The more the installed Internet base, the more the people get online and start building websites in their native language, you need internet first - then websites in whichever form they prefer. In China's case, they got them some good internet and broadband, and so the major install base there.[/b]
Ridiculous comment. So people will use internet for no apparent reason. Again you are typically using yourself as a reference. I'm talking about people who have negligible technical knowledge and they form a major part of the end users. It is these chunk of users that need to be made aware of the internet. The question is why should these particular people use the internet ?
http://in.hindi.yahoo.com/

Could do the same for google.[/b]
Excellent you named two websites which can compete with the zillion chinese websites.

And how do you THINK that's going to happen? When there is demand, right? You don't produce goods unless there is no demand. Get those Marathi's on the internet so those email services recognise them. You know, they just can't pull out every single language on earth in their service. You've been on the opposite road saying things backwards all the time.[/b]
Firstly i just gave an example of having services in local languages which can increase reach of the internet and other technologies. You contradict yourself when you say that it's not possible to pull out every other language but goods should only be produced when there is demand. So how are you going to get people who don't know english to use the internet ? Care to enlighten me plz.
