A powerful future-proof non-gaming laptop

My requirements with the corresponding budget are quite ambitious, but will be really happy if someone can help me out.

1. Touchscreen
2. Lightweight
3. Resolution greater than 1366x768
4. 1TB hard disk
5. Powerful processor which will perform well for 4-5 years (read - the latest iteration of Intel processors, whatever it is)
6. Minimum 4GB RAM, but would love to have more. Already have 4GB so maybe 8GB shall be nice.

Hardly do I play games. So a gaming laptop is not necessary. A decent GPU to process simple graphics and Photoshop and Corel Draw like applications shall be fine.

Budget not very high. 35-40K approx.

A good laptop at any time would always cost in the range of 60-70 k.

heh. yeap. buy the best laptop you can buy when you absolutely need it. that's the mantra.

on related note. HP is charging 5400 for a single chip of 8GB RAM on my niece's laptop. sounds ok? i am assuming getting it from another source would void the warranty?

Should be OK. They do charge slightly more but saves problems if something goes wrong.

right. i am paying 4400 for 2 4GB chips for my own desktop so sounds okish.

strange thing is that they are offering two year extended warranty for just rs. 1500. but there is NO OPTION to get accidental damage protection for the same.

of course battery is external so that's good too. beats audio is also pretty great. i do not think i have seen better speakers on the laptop.
anyways, the unit we got 2 days ago had a small scratch on the display so had to return it to the HP store. the guy accepted it without any hassle so that was surprising. he has promised to get a replacement unit on monday. hopefully there are no surprises in store for me. :\

I had 5 years warranty on my Dell. Was really useful.

Abhishek, look at Dell, they have some good Inspiron models in around 50-60 k range. You can negotiate a bit and get a discount.

heh yeah. the Dell laptop i purchased saw 4 replacements of dvd drive and a few other changes in the three year of warranty period. and this is despite the fact that i used it as a desktop. the keyboard is still in tip top condition because i never really typed on it. the battery died within the first year so it is now lying somewhere around here as a heavy paperweight.
