Pune is facing severe shortage of power. It seems to be affecting BSNL as well.Whenever power goes off, I have noticed that my connection also drops (sometimes it is due to reset of modem). However, it dials and connects after 30 seconds. Many a times, the modem can not make connection for upto 5-10 minutes. Last week I noticed that the problem persisted for over half a day. May be BSNL does not have enough UPS/generator power to keep their broadband servers running :huh:Anybody has faced this kind of problem, in Pune or elsewhere?

Well, to put it.. BSNL has also got its downtime.. so there are times when the broadband is down.. This is a part and parcel of any ISP provider.. it's just that, the downtimes vary dependin on the service provider.. If you're looking for a solution... you could try placing a complaint or.. look for alternate ISP's.(To sum it up... whai i meant is.. if you feel the problem is due to your modem or something from your side.. please post the relevant details and people will help you out.. but in your case i felt you were lookin for an opinion poll !)Regards

Here also whenever the power goes off the modem resets.I guess this is because the modem switches from mains power to USP/Inverter power. Also when the modem is on mains power and the voltage fluctuates the modem resets.I have seen this on BSNL provided UTstarcomm modems as well as various D-Link modems.

You guys need correctly sized 'On-Line' UPS (APC, Su-Kam) and not line-interactive types.

That will fix this issue.

I also have a Su-Kam set to UPS mode, the computer does not restart when power goes off, however modes does, though not always. The other problem is with BSNL, it seems that their server are down when power goes off, so can not connect.

I think I have been lucky so far. I'm connected to the Kondhwa exchange, and I don't seem to have this problem. As soon as the modem re-starts because of the time lag in UPS/inverter switching over, it establishes a connection.

But if you're a gamin maniac like me... Then consider it as GAME OVER !

I'm with Hadapsar exchange. I face this problem during long stints of power cut:(
