I have been having problems with ACT since December. The usual story goes like you give a complaint, it gets fixed after 2 or 3 days and works for another 3-4 days and again goes. This has been happening since Nov/Dec. The worst part is the service guy Yogesh at Kodihalli, asks me to be at home at 6-6:30 pm. I come early missing work and he does not show up , neither he answers phone calls.
Today I had enough, decided to quit with ACT, may be go with Airtel. Airtel is good work from home(all my friends say its reliable) ACT is only to download movies I guess.
My acttv id is: 10346068

Hi Everybody,
I recently applied for a ACT broadband connection in N.G.E.F layout Bangalore 560038, after ACT started aggressively advertising in my layout i applied for a connection.
Here is my experience and feedback with a 25-mbps ACT broadband connection.
Installation and setup was quite smooth after making the payment everything was up and running within 24 to 48 hours, however the only drawback i faced was if you dont buy a six month plan or a longer tenure you have to buy an over priced but rather dismal N300 router.
I went and picked up a D-Link N300 router for 1700 inr online and now I have about 2 computers, 1 xbox 360 and 4 mobiles on regular days, if i got friends over the mobiles connected goes upto 10 including the other peripherals listed above. All of which have connected seamlessly without hiccups.(Connectivity).
The speed on all devices for regular usage has been very fast and consistent. Say i'm downloading a movie on my computer( which takes 3 to 15 mins max) , with youtube, music streaming , whatsapp on multiple devices and playing games online with my xbox 360.
The Internet speed consistency has been good i always check my speed on speedtest.net ( which says i have a nation wide grade of A++ and a Global grade of A-) with bangalore servers and i get a ping of 1 to 20 ms and the subscribed download and upload limit.
The connection stability has been a little poor, considering how their other performance has been so far i get a disconnect at least once everyday for about half an hour to one hour varying between 10 to 20 minutes of downtime.
I applied for a ACT connection primarily for multiplayer gaming: now i play with my xbox 360 on servers which are located in the United States and Europe, I play all kinds of games online but generally First person shooters (which have always lagged in the past on other ISP's) which to my complete AWE and AMAZEMENT played beautifully without any button lag or video lag.( got a Killing frenzy on HALO 4 8 vs 8 players on a huge map with high vehicle usage). ACT thank you for making my multiplayer experience perfect, however 1 out of every 10 games do lag so i'm guessing a good match is desirable.
I haven't approached customer service just yet, ive always managed to fix the disconnects by myself so no feedback on that.
My overall experience so far with ACT has been world-class apart from the disconnects and the router plan( :nono: very badly thought of ).
ACT should work on these aspects to most definitely become a market leader and ruler.
I stay in a two story house and i have been using ACT broadband for about 2 weeks.
If anybody would like any further clarifications please do get in touch.
For now i strongly recommend their service.
Regards,
Nitish

Its good to see one of those rare 'satisfied' review about ACT broadband and that too with a lot of input on how its used. I truely hope this feeling lasts for you.
Reading all those innumerable issues about ACT, you could brace yourself for any of these things : down time due to fiber cut OR down time for reasons which are not fiber cut :) OR reduced speeds before FUP limit. These are the most frequent complaints.
But never ever ever ever loose hope ;)

Hi ACT..... in all honesty I love the service provided but in all fairness i should'nt have to diagnose and reboot the connection every 3 hours to work when i believe the service is almost world class.
However I am testing this out.... and i will have to dis-continue the service if the problem persists.
Please fix these issues. I have 4 residents who are ready to take new connections as well but now i'm in 2 minds because they would not be able to diagnose the disconnect issue and they would end up wasting their money... hence i still don't know if i should recommend.
Well you guys are doing a good job but your almost this close to being world class..... why waste this opportunity when ACT is already miles ahead of its competitors in terms of the plans provided.
I really hope the bangalore consumer gets easy access to internet connections( without the frequent disconnect) like this.
P.S. I make my frens in other countries really jealous about my internet connection.

Why is it disconnecting? It should just work.
Pick one. There is no option C.
A. Slower but reliable connection
OR
B. Faster but unstable connection.

Worst broadband......I am using the ACT broadband since last one and half year....but Ihave not faced any issues for the one year..but from the last 6 months......my internet is gone for atleast 3 days each months....if you will register a complaint no body will call you and it may take 3-4 days to resolve the issues...and the worst part they gave me wrong bill for month of january...and then I registered a complaint regarding wrong bill and they are not able to resolve the bill issues until now it has been more than 40 days and still no body resolved the issues.....

I'm sorry homie....
but its because we always settle we get third rate service...
Why should I settle when we thrive on the internet ......
heck it should be an amenity by now..... like water.........
there is always an option C...... you make that option.... :)

@Nitish: Strangely I have not faced this issue ever in my 4 months of using ACT. I need to sign in once in 24 hrs or so and it works perfectly throughout the day and night. I face a strange issue, like every once in a while (not very frequent) the net connection stops even though my router says that internet is online and I see the IP adress assigned by the ACT DHCP server, internet does not work, even the portal page does not open. My only option is to renew the IP and it starts working again. But apart from this, I absolutly agree with you dude..this is a world class service..I speak to my colleagues in other parts of the world over skype very often and they are surprised at the clarity of the video call.

Also, I read in some other post people complaining about speedtest results varying between different countries and the speed displayed when downloading content from the web. Please understand that there the speed advertised is in Megabits (Mb) and not MegaBytes (MB). What you see during a content download is Megabyte and not Megabit.
Conversion:
1 MegaByte(MB) = 8 Megabits (Mb)
Hence if you get 2MB download speed when downloading a movie, the actual speed it is working at is 16Mbps. Service providers advertise this inflated numbers to sell their service and people get confused.
For more details read the following link:
http://opensignal.com/knowledgebase/the-difference-between-megabyte-and-megabit.php
Coming back to the topic of different speed on different speedtest websites, the latency or the delay in the network over the cable causes speed to vary a lot. Local servers will give you the best speed results, however the variation should not be very much in case of remote servers as well.
I have personally tested my connection with servers from different locations and did not get a variation of more than few Mbs.
