Adobe: 10 years, and all our apps will be online

Adobe Systems Inc. is working to deliver all of its software via the Web as a service rather than a packaged product, but the transition to earn money from subscriptions or advertising could take a decade.

A statement from such a software company is sure big news. I dunno whether this is good or not. Even if it is available online as a subscription service, its really doubtful that most of us can afford to legally use Adobe softwares online services. :ashamed:

anyway let us worry about this after 10 yrs :D

BTW how many of you have tried online OS and is that any use at this stage ??

and please dont rant about our broadband speeds hehehe that is obvious :P

ya, the software companies are realising free software will eventually rule. so the obvious step is to move to software itself as a service which can be charged regardless the underlying platform.

10 years from now adobe acrobat will be 100 mb setup and still will only be able to open pdf's .

i think the basic concept of acrobat is to view the PDF files offline... acrobat writer is a different concept altogether. u can already use a web browser to watch JPEGs that does not mean that we use the browser to watch the photos.

That isn't what i meant there .. i used foxit pdf reader for a while and was really amazed at its size and speed . acrobat is so slow at it .

the latest version of Acrobat is in fact pretty fast. Even on Linux.and the point remains if you have to use the advance functionality of acrobat. like checking out complicated PDF files with 3D content, the official viewer would work best.
