these plans could have worked for them if MNP has not arrived. a lot of folks who have been waiting for some idea about airtel 3g pricing... would now start working on MNPing away to rival service providers. airtel is showing extraordinary complacency here. this is not going to work in their favor.

But they have to get back the amount invested in 3G auctions in anyway. I feel they will have a tough time in bringing in new customers. The same ting happened to BSNL 3G a few users ago but they have gradually decreased their prices and now are a very solid player in the 3G space.
How many customers does Airtel think of by this plans in a city like Bangalore? I guess they will have a tough time even to cross 10k and 100k will be dream come true. Leave the smaller towns and cities they cant even think of more than 1k customers with this plans. With this do they expect to get back their auction money !
Students/young will never go for this plans bcoz they know what this 1.2GB crap is. It may be some who will only go by the 3G name and take the service only to experience horrendous bills.
Unfortunately we are the culprit, it was wrong to think that pvt. players could give us a better deal than BSNL. Leave alone toppling them their pricing can't come near BSNL in even a year from now.

Airtel's plans would have worked if MNP was not available. I feel people who are using Wave, N8, Galaxy phones will be sticking to Airtel as they are getting 2GB for ~50Rs a month / N8 users are getting it for free. Also heard that video call will cost 5p/sec just like docomo. Let airtel learn a lesson by loosing hell lot of customers in mobile & broadband services.

The service seems very good. Screen shot from my laptop with two bars says 3mbps DL and .6mbps UL.

But i pay Rs899 pm for BSNL 3G Blackberry Unlimited Data. No fair usage on BSNL. They are offering unlimitted for 700pm prepaid with 6 month commitment and free data card.
Why is the pricing so Bad??

Docomo plans are almost 50% cheaper than Airtel. If Docomo plans did not attract users then Airtel is a gone case.@Rohit,Signal strength indoors is very weak. I am getting 1 to 2 bars and no signals for some minutes. Probably all of their 3G towers are not switched on :wall:
