@dhananjayk - I am getting 3mbps with two bars!!! That is still fantastic compared to BSNL. Its double their speed with same signal strength.
Well thanks for updating. Which handset are you using? I mean HSDPA is 3.6 or 7.2?

airtel dug its own grave when they implemented their "fair usage policy" now with 3g, they have provided us with all the earth we need to bury them for good.

I knew that Airtel's 3G plans are going to be crap..but din't expect them to sooo hopeless! Now i know how they designed these plans..Its like in 2G its Rs.98/2gb... 3G is ~10 times faster than 2G. So They multiply 98*10 to get the pricing for 3G!This is how the plans will be if a commerce major designs internet tariffs!Calling these plans sh!t is an insult to sh!t :P

reporter to abhishek bacchan:why does your film's always a flop?abhi:no idea!reporter:then get idea , :P its like tht.... u were expecting airtel to do wonders...they didnt ...now move on :P

ah well. i see their plan is 1.2GB for around 700 bucks. it is not mmm nice of course. but a lot of people can certainly afford it. of course, if you think of it as a replacement for your landline broadband connection... you are sadly mistaken.

I don't think Mobile Number Portability will have a difference here. People who were hooked to Airtel just for their 3G to launch truly have no other option anyway. They are not going to Docomo 3G or Reliance 3G in any instance bcoz not to forget their plans are also the same crap as airtel (to be frank a little less crappy).MNP will only effect the 2G-2G porters like people porting from Airtel to docomo 2G as of now.On 2G-3G migration only BSNL stands to win with their 3G service.

Well.. I tethered Laptop with BB and tried. I also have an internal mini pci WWAN Broadband 3G modem card in which I put the sim directly in laptop. The card is 7.2mbps Dell wireless and I took screen shot from my laptop.

Admin,

Since 512kbps lines are still considered broadband in our country, the 3G connection purely for data I feel does match up. As stated before, I was getting 1.5mbps consistently using BSNL 3G and in a small town like Hassan, Karnataka, the BSNL 3G matched the DSL line in my office there.

Sure, you cannot share the line as easily as a wired connection nor can you get 8mbps that airtel DSL is offering.

But if u are on the road a lot, 1.5mbps for Rs. 899 pm is sure worth it..

2GB for Rs. 750, I will use that in under a week. :(
