I activated 3G but the speeds thru speedtest app shows speed of around 800 kbps :(
The weird part is my balance is not deducting in my Main account as well as 2G account, sorta free access :P

Download as much as you can. Even i am getting lower speeds

Really sad for Airtel, cud hv been the undisputed No.1 if it continued its gud service. Those days are gone anyhow, anyways after 6 months or so there will be consolidation in the market after MNP. Hope a better company comes up with better companies.BTW their 3G network seems very bad, it keeps switching between Edge and 3G due to coverage

I upgraded by 2G plan to 3G flexi plan and ever since then, there is no data network on my mobile. After hours of waiting with the technical support at 30p per 3 mins, the chap said there is some technical issue with bangalore 3g network and it would be fixed within 8 hours. This was around 10 am in the morning.I'm just wondering how you guys are able to browse 3G? Are you using some different APN or is it airtelgprs.com? I can see the H sign on my mobile, but nothing is being received. Tried the 3G sim on the data card as well, still the same.. it is one way stream communication. Only send no receive.

APN remains airtelgprs.com even for 3GTry restarting your mobile. I did this when ever i could not access data. It works.Yes a couple of time i observed no data is received. Looks like Airtel will take some more months to sort out network issues.

Chennai, Jan 27:
Airtel has succeeded in enlisting over one lakh customers for its range of 3G services within 72 hours of its launch, say company officials.

Mind boggling response

At the launch of the third generation services in Chennai and Coimbatore, Mr Atul Bindal, President, Mobile Services, Bharti Airtel, told Business Line, “The response has been mind boggling with the total consumption of around 200 GB a day.”

“We never anticipated such a huge response,” he said.

Bharti Airtel will rollout the services in 13 circles by March. Over the next one year, it plans to extend the services to 1,500 cities and towns , he told newspersons.

In the 72 hours of the service becoming operational in Bangalore, around one lakh customers are enjoying a variety of services, including video call , movies and music, according to a senior company official.

Mr Bindal welcomed Airtel's brand ambassador and cine star Karthi on to the Airtel 3G platform as the first 3G customer in the city. Airtel will offer services such as video call, live streaming of video, high speed Internet, mobile TV entertainment through the 3G technology. Users can also avail themselves of the services through the existing ‘SIM' cards.

For laptop users, Airtel offers 3G ‘dongles,' he said.

Packages

In a bid to attract mass trial and adoption of the service , the company offers packages of up to 10 days. For Rs 8, under the Sachet plan , a user can avail himself of 10 MB of free data (one day validity); and 65 MB for Rs 63 and one day validity.

Mr Bindal said the company's cumulative spending in Tamil Nadu was Rs 7,000 crore.

That number will eventually come down in some months. He is providing a list of users who have activated 3G. Many are not happy with their 3G n/w coverage and mainly tariff. Now people are enjoying 2G data pack under promotional offer. Once the promotional offer ends, lets see.Mr Atul, lets have an update after 1st quarter.
