heh... i am giving you are a more realistic possibility here...joost is based on p2p.and the more users you have on your local network using joost, the better speeds you are likely to get.so that means probably the software is unable to get enough connections to ensure that it works.i am pretty sure the error you are seeing is the one i got (screenshot on the previous page of the thread).

i did not say p2p was a protocol. i just said joost is based on the p2p technology.that means you are likely to get faster speeds if more people are using joost in your area.i am not spreading any rumors here. definitely.

Joost is not working from the time I got an invitation (around 1 month back) ... It works when I connect to net using RIM but it don't work when I am connected using airtel... Wht can one conclude from this ??

isn't p2p all about that? if you have a dude sharing the same file on your network you are going to get faster speeds. joost people would release content to a limited number of users. data gets shared from them. similar to how torrent works.so you would get a better joost experience if more people around you are watching that content...

That can't be possible?

You might be confusing this with torrents, p2p, is only fast if the person that serves you is on a fast connection. Does not matter if there are many that share it, since you will only pull it from *one* person.

torrents are a form of p2p, but saying torrent is clearer. Here bits of the file come from several ppl, hence its faster to get if more ppl are sharing it. It also has rolling checksums to ensure the file is accurately received.

Some reasons for why Airtel might be blocking Joost.

Fairly interesting to read the limits in other countries, oz..hehe.

umm yeh... joost uses torrent like p2p architecture. i should stop responding to this thread. am just ending up confusing every person who is landing here. :p
