most of the servers run on 1gig standard line now or 2 gigs , dropping of speeds compared to pitiable speeds in India can never happen, the only problem could be if the DC has bad peering to Asia, even then you would hardly notice any speed drops cause our own isp connections are too low. say if the server is on 1gig line with max 10 users on it and you have 2mbps line with a max d/l of 250K you would hardly feel anything. tunnels , vpns are use full to bypass throttling , censorship by govt, isp, to mask your privacy and to me are a must. btw who in his right would mind take server from airtel if the whole purpose is bypass them, getting a server, vps, VPN from e.u makes sense.

torrent freak did an excellent article recently on list of vpn providers .take your pick from them.

I have Airtel Broadband since Airtel introduced broadband services in New Delhi..And i was happy till i have my earlier plan the customer care is awesome in terms whenever any problems they come within an hour to fix it at my home :).. Well, recently i changed my plan according to my increased needs in which i discovered my torrent speed is being blocked/throttled and stopping of my browser downloads in the middle. I was very dis-satisfied as well as shocked that what Airtel is doing, browsing loads of blogs and forums i got to know i am not the only one with this freaking problem there are loads :(.. I have called the Airtel Technician on to my home and he checked my router as well as the modem setting and he said something is wrong with the ports and said i will re-visit to tell you the ports but that day never came.I just want a suggestion/tip on how to bypass this throttling or something ?Please share any relevant info. thanksThanks Regards

It's been a week now... and it is confirmed that torrent speeds are capped in daytime, its restricted to max 512mbps in day and normal in night.... i tested it on all possible environments/modem reset/firewall uninstall/os chang/best torrent with max seedss.... etc but no luck... im tired of complaining ... they hv jus one reply "hum aapko torrent pe speed nahi de payenge, humne speed check karwa di hai aapko and its full 4mbps"...
Now I'm lookin 4 some wireless broadband with unltd plan (at least 25Gb download) and under 1600 Rs.... can u guys suggest one?... what about tikona?
btw Im fm Delhi....

Hi

I am from Lucknow and having same problem. I am using Airtel as well. They just have same answer for everyone "Hum torrents par speed support nahi karte". In Lucknow I am planning to go for Reliance broadband connection but there are two issues that are stopping me:

1) Internet connection needs authentication before you start using it. I have Netgear N Series Wi-Fi router and I want my internet connection to be distributed to all my wireless devices through it. Reliance customer care executives say that Netgear can be configured for auto authentication by providing credentials once.

2) Airtel provides a landline phone and the plan that I am using right now gives me 450 pulses free every month where as Reliance broadband doesn't come with any landline phone at all. :(

Almost all ISPs throttle torrent traffic during the day time. Even if you use clients which encrypt the traffic, the ISPs analyze the connection and pattern of the traffic to throttle it
