This whole scenario is filled with too many WTFs. Why would the ISPs be responsible for content on websites? I don't think even the hosting provider can be held accountable for that completely. IMO, the HC should've just asked the plaintiffs to send out DMCA (is this applicable to India?) take-down orders to the sites concerned and closed the case. And, I don't see why the ISPs didn't fight back saying that they shouldn't have to spend time and energy on preventing piracy of the said movies over the Internet, where ever they may occur. And even if they did, it's just impossible. If the ISPs didn't expound this point to the law, they are tacitly accepting responsibility for all the content posted everywhere on the Internet.So, tomorrow, what's to prevent some dumbass politician from asking the ISPs to block youtube (or, half the Internet) or news media outlet because there's a video there that he/she finds offensive?
