there are some differences. movie studios want dvd and blu-ray locked to regions so manufactures have do that. the thing with ISPs is slightly different. of course fair usage policy and net neutrality shit is because of media giants who are againt the freedom on the web as they claim it hurts their bottom line. but ISPs too suffer from excessive usage by their customers (poor network, expensive bandwidth). so they have benefits in supporting FUP and opposing network neutrality. DVD manufacturers have nothing to lose if their players are capable of playing all kinds of media. they get their money at sale time. they do not have to deal with customers after that.

Well I am not sure whether airtel has removed the Fair Usage Policy or not but i read somewhere that the policy only applies to 6 months old customers so i say lets wait and watch..... and if Fair Usage Policy comes up again lets be united and terminate the connection and support the govt. by using their broadband services atleast they don't have such policies and if they too will put limit on us than we all should just go back to dial-up era and wait for proper broadband services. We have waited long enough and we can still wait further.

Good Luck waiting for the proper broadband services which should arrive in India by 3011:grin::grin::grin:

The speed and quality of broadband providers in not great here, so yeah proper broadband services might not even reach us till 3011..... let's wait and watch.

There is no such thing as "fair usage policy" as per TRAI. My application has clearly asked TRAI as to what they have done to penalise the telecom operators if they violate the provisions. It's still pending a reply from them; failing which I shall be escalating the matter to CIC, New Delhi.

Well best of luck with the on going operations, since it is quite a task to get responsible answers from government officials. Keep up the good work and keep the thread updated with the answers you receive from TRAI and i believe that "Fair usage policy" is being introduced by airtel and such option (i.e restricted bandwidth) might have been in the TRAI policy somewhere which they want to use against us to earn higher profits.

city- delhiplan- swift 512 unlimitedfare usage policy implemented - yes :madness:one more thing guys how would i know about how much i have downloaded..??

i would say 512kbps is minimum BB speed (can watch live streaming of youtube without waiting)

but real BB speed is 1Mbps and above!!!

minimum BB speed should be 1mbps, now a days for youtube videos 512 kbps is also not sufficient
