That has been happening for all customers nearing the FUP limits. Seriously it sucks. And you are right about the interference during sensitive transactions.
looking at the number of junk calls they make on mobiles and landlines, they could have taken that route WRT FUP. redirection is evil. it probably break some of the RFCs (or something like that). DNS Hijacking is awful. Airtel sucks.
What they are doing is immoral, unethical and illegal when they do a redirect like that. Ethics and moral values I can understand that they leave them at home when doing a business like that, and since we don't have proper law enforcing agencies, and if some are there then either they are sold out to these big companies or they don't have the will to enforce rules. When our PM is ready to give away Kashmir to terrorists and traitors, how can we expect fair practices by big business houses.
We are againg back to an era when there were very few broadband providers were avaliable but with the diffrence that now lot of isps are avaliable but maximum of them are either offering useless plans or do adds with phrases like download speed upto 3mbps but practically speed remains in the range of 256 to 512kbps and otherss like MTNL are well known for there Broadband Connection quality and customer care and redressal of complaint. so now its hard to make decision betwwen what we require an airtel connection with fup's but good quality connection or truely unlimited connection of MTNL but of poor quality. TRAI is doing nothing.
DNS Hijacking is awful. Airtel sucks.
Wait, so do you mean that this redirect is a DNS redirect? I mean I'm using Google DNS since the day it launched, so I won't be redirected to this You-have-crossed-your-unfair-usage-policy page, right?
If it's a DNS redirect, then the fix is pretty simple! Just switch to Google Public DNS
Any of you guys noticed that Airtel is now hijacking your browsing session, randomly for last two days it takes me to http://122.160.230.125:8080/vta/redirectedPage.do this is very very annoying as whenever I am doing something important like a credit card transaction or submitted a long written article all get lost as the browser takes me to that page.
I am seriously considering a switch.
I doubt that. I get redirected, only when I open a new page, after reconnecting internet/rebooting modem. So I could not be in the middle of "something" like you said.
Airtel service is pretty good but there plans are totally crap With there Fair usage Policy using airtel 2mbps Plan only i can download upto 20 Gb after it comes back to 256 Kbps paying 1299 Rs is that fair ? They are just making money and that only happens in india .
