So finally FUPed, could not watch youtube video without buffering, which confirmed the FUPing.Called up Customer care, everytime the music stops it disconnects but finally got lucky to hear a voice in the third attempt. The executive informs that the FUP limit is 15 GB for me :O. 1099 plan (1212 after tax) and 15 GB limit :@Never believed in loyalty but after 5 years of a gud relationship with airtel (2.5 yrs each in NCR & BLR) I will go ahead with disconnection.Heard that Tikona is gud in my area (R T Nagar), will be looking into it and reliance and once I get that connection, will disconnect airtel.

While calling for a demo on Tikona insist them to show you the nearby access point(mini tower). If its just a street away then its okay, otherwise it is not reliable.
Call relaince cc for feasibility check, if not satisfied contact the nearby Reliance store(any centre), they can help you. Reliance connectivity is only possible thru local(reliance) peoples who maintains it. If your house is 105 metres away from the DB box & the rules are for 100 metres only they simply inform their office saying "no feasibility".If you talk to them in a nice way then it can do the trick.

Thanks for the info. I dont have any experience in taking a new BB connection.I got BSNL at home in AP 7 years back, never changed it and it works fine der.Twice applied for airtel in NCR & BLR, didnt need to check for service or anything, direct installation. Now I need to check and analyse these new operators.Pity that the BB access will never be the same

Update: It's been a week since I've dumped airtel and opted for Reliance broadband. Reliance has been pretty good. The only problem with this connection is video streaming. You just can't stream any video (even low quality) on this connection. This is most probably a routing problem.

me too...last saturday i got the reliance....no downtime....so far so good.Though i get only 800-850 kbps in my night booster i'm able to watch youtube videos(360p) without buffering...reliance speed differs from place to place it seems..

Just talked to my local cable wallah, they are providing internet too.

The cable network gives set top box and very good service and when I inquired they said that they provide cable internet from Spectranet (as a third party) but the payment is prepaid (30 days money in advance) with tariffs as

512 kbps+ 660 rupees
1mbps+ 1000 rupees

He says the speed will vary but he will guarantee the minimum speed as mentioned and most importantly no FUP

There will be no installation charges as well.

Will be getting a day of demo and it seems to be a gud deal as many ppl in my street already have connections

Finally I can cancel my airtel broadband connection

i think the cable guy in my society also provides internet through spectranet. i have not asked for prices. would try to get the details. might test it out for a month!
