Airtel is driving me nuts.

This is the latest email from a customer care representative that just dropped in my inbox:

---------- Post added at 08:38 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:37 PM ----------

and the company clearly states on their website that the policy is now on in delhi based plans.

this could mean only one thing pal, they're avoiding screwups with existing customers. and yes, haryana does not have fup till now, as per airtel.in

till now my 256 UL connection has been working fine. and i signed the form on 5th( there was NO mention of FUP) and my line was activated on 7th ( lineman wired on 8th and modem stuff on 9th). lets see what happens. if they throttle me, ill take a lot mroe action than i have taken till now.

dude..here is the http://airtel.in/applications/xm/Fair_Usage_Policy.pdf..

it is online now

Airtel’ Fair Usage Policy
Airtel’s Fair Usage Policy is designed in such a manner that we continue to provide the best of internet experience to all our customers.

Why a Fair Usage Policy?
A very small number of customers use an excessive amount of the network bandwidth, to the extent that it can impair the experience of others. The intent of Airtel's Fair Usage Policy is to provide the optimum internet experience to all customers.

What happens in Fair Usage Policy?
Under the policy we have defined fair usage levels for unlimited data transfer plans and needless to mention, the usage levels set are very generous  such that most customers will not be affected by the Fair Usage Policy.

On reaching the fair usage level, the plan speed would be rationalized by up to 50% for the rest of the monthly billing cycle. You would also be redirected to a page which will inform you that the speeds for the rest of the billing cycle month would be as per the Airtel’s Fair Usage Policy.

Please note that the speeds would be upgraded to the normal speeds at the start of the
next billing cycle.

What’s the impact of Fair Usage Policy on data transfer limits?

We assure you that the data transfer limits remain unlimited and no change has been made in the same.

To view the plan wise usage levels set, please visit the tariff section of our website
Airtel.in.

yea it is.it refers to the tariff for the exact limits/cap. and haryana tariff does not mention those crazy limits..like kar/del/others do. they've actually put the 256 ul in 'internet plans' in kar... so tht nobody can make noise. i think they read this thread pretty carefully. now only if trai/dot realises that this is a step backwards.

it was on delhi plans in the morning when i checked.

gurgaon comes under the delhi region for airtel.

lets pledge not to recco airtel to anyone from now on.

"a small number of users" are those who use more than a mere 10-13% of data usage.

According to Airtel "A generous usage level is" = 10-13% data usage. this should be the second biggest scam of the year after Satyam. :)

even 128kbps is not spared. even that is reduced to half once it reaches 10GB.

if 128/256/384kbps can impair Airtel's network performance then shut down the damn ISP..

Airtel has not got the license to be a traffic cop??

they're trying to get more out of the customers by increasing tariffs and adjusting the speeds to ensure they don't have to upgrade bandwidth soon.good for bank account, bad for customer satisfaction and retention, worse for word-of-mouth customer conversion. but modern age "kal-ke-mba ladke" don't understand that once the customer starts hating you, even god can't help. compare it witht he nearest grocery seller...ever seen him trying to lose old customers by loading them with all sorts of crap? you wont. that' why the shop' been runnign for ages and the seller' been growing fatter.

If nothing works out..mass boycott airtel..let them feel the pinch of playing with customer's.

I'm gonna ditch Airtel as soon as they man up and admit they're implementing this policy. I have two Airtel phone connections at home, and my dad has a few at his office. It is going to hurt their pocket.
