This gets murkier. I called up Airtel in Karnataka and told them that I need a new unlimited connection and asked him about the plans and offers. After he told me about the plans (which are same as their from the website at this point) I asked him about the Fair Use Policy. He said there is no such policy and that I can use any amount of downloads, in his own words - 50 or even 100GB with no restrictions.

All of this after I have confirmed from various senior CC people in Airtel that this policy is in fact in place and we will soon see something in snail mail on this.

Boy this is like a trap - lure people with false promises and then gas them like in Auschwitz. How sick can a company get?

You should do what i did when you get information which will benefit you, take the CSR's name and Employee number. Then if they do something against it, you have a person whom they can hold responsible. I know its not the CSR's fault, but they shouldnt be giving us wrong information in the first place. Train them, and then use them Airtel!

So Home 1499 Plus and Home 2222 Plus are back on airtel's website with *Applicable only for Residential Customers with Single PC.And CC's are themselves confused and have no clear cut idea about the plans and the caps. The confusion continues...

I'm having the same issue. I tried calling the CS and one of the Airtel executives who gave me his number. Neither had any info on the policy.

so the 1mbps plan is back for delhi ncr too?

the single computer stipulation makes me believe that the limitations are due to cafes and companies using residential plans not because of us the regular customers.

just a thought.

i know a lot of companies which are running multiple airtel home connections to generate a combined 1/2/3/4 mbps lines for multiple computers.

it turns out to be much cheaper compared to getting commercial plans.

Bah, I haven't even turned on Utorrent since yesterday due to reading about the data capping. I think I'm going to stop being cautious till things become more clearer.

same here. i can survive on 256kbps while my protest against airtel continues. really have no alternative. airtel now powers my television.

I called CC again...when I asked for Tariff's and limitation for 512kbps, the guy told that he is from technical department and he will transfer my call...the next executive have no idea what this "Fair Usage Policy" is...:hysterical:He told me as you are in unlimited plan there should not be any limit...he was confused about these things..later on he told me to wait as he is going to check about these things and call got disconnected.I called again...this time the lady told me that as per my 384kbps plan my download limit will be 25gb after that speed will be reduced to 256kbps. For 512Kbps she told 40gb limit after which speeds will be reduced to 256kbps. She told there is no unlimited plan like before. This 25gb or 40gb is including Download+Upload both.

i do not even want to know how much i have downloaded/uploaded this month already.

^ It will look pretty odd when we keep checking our usage for so called unlimited plan..I would have dumped Airtel and migrated to BSNL's Home UL 1350 plan but cause of doubt that BSNL might follow Airtel's path in a month or two I have to stick with Airtel as of now
