How can they not inform their employees of something of this scale? Did Airtel just turn into BSNL or something?

it is not implemented in ncr as of now AFAIK. but the bang CC guys told me it' going to be put into effect pan-india. i think by the time they do that, they'd have lost a sizeable number of customers. and it wud b the customers who give trusted advice about 'which internet?'

I found the link to FUP in the tariff listing page.Pls see the pic.

The above page is for UP East 1mbps UL, but i think the link is on all circles and is broken everywhere.

Put a complaint to DOT.Your Grievance is Successfully Registered. Note yourRegistration No. DOTEL/E/2009/00564for future reference.

As per this link: http://www.dot.gov.in/pgcell.htm, we all need to use a 3 tiered structure to try and resolve our grievances with an ISP:
Code:
All the complainants may kindly seek redressal of their grievance at first instance through “Three Tier Institutionalized Grievances Redressal Mechanism” of Service Provider concerned esrablished by them under Telecom Consumer Protection and Redressal of Grievances Regulations, 2007 (3 of 2007) issued by TRAI at the following levels(a) Call Centre of concerned Service Provider(b) Nodal Officer of concerned Service Provider and(c) Appellate Authority within the company of Service Provider.
I called up customer care yesterday since I already have a complaint on their fair usage policy. I told them that I am not satisfied with the customer care response and that I would like to take it up to their Nodal officer and if required Appelate authority to understand the "fairness" of this policy. I asked the CC for the Nodal officer number and they first refused to give. After I told them that they are breaking the law by not giving the number, prompt came the numbers and here they are for Bangalore:
Airtel Nodal Office number: 08041115338
Airtel Appellate Office number: 08041115201

I havent yet called them but plan do so sometime today. I request everyone affected to lodge a complaint with CC and then use that complaint in your discussions with the Nodal officer.

My primary question to ask will be based on the logic that why am I allowed only 10-13% of usage of what I actually can gobble up as download+upload.

I also intend to give them a headache as a customer.:@

I called the cc today(tamilnadu). They said i exceed the fair usage policy, so they limit the speed.
for a 256kbps connection 145GB of data transfer can be done in a month.
But in fair usage policy they says only 15GB, ie around 10%.
They said TRAI implemented the policy.
I asked the TRAI amendment no. After a quarrel CC guy accepted, airtel gave suggestion & TRAI has not implemented.
I asked how my speed can be reduced without asking me first.
Since they haven't informed to me, i asked them to reduce the tariff.
since i am getting only 128kbps & i have not informed, i wont pay for 256kbps.
u can also refuse to pay for what u haven't downloaded.
CC said any connection with voice & data transfer at same time can be called broadband. ie 64kbps, 128kbps also broadbands.
We can't ask Srilanka govt to stop war or pak to stop terrorism.
But we can surely JOIN in these airtel issue.
someone told to complaint http://www.dot.gov.in/pgcell.htm
But they are asking documentary proof.
I don't know what type of documentary proof can be used for a telephone conversation.

Welcome to the club my friend :)

i too have called Airtel call center and lodged my complaint. i also forwarded my complaint to noda officer and appelete officer.I got more than 4 calls since morning but nobody is ready to disclose any info more than details we have. They too have no idea why Airtel is not forthright in mentioning as to what constitutes "Airtel Fair Usage Policy" in its website, neither there is a printed material on this with the marketing personnel and the call center girl tells that Airtel does not have no intentionof cheating users. :ashamed:@warthogI have also emailed ndtv, cnn ibn, indian express, hindu..how about Times of India TOI and Aajtak or India Today? ..all the emails sent to TOI / aajtak bounce back..does naybody have a working email id of TOI..

yeap. it's not surprise that they are not clarifying what they mean by airtel fair usage policy on their website. this new policy is a big deal. if they were right about implementing it, they would not be hiding behind the customer care people who are just telling lies to customers blaming TRAI for this 'policy'.
