heh. if the policy is in place, they would reduce the speeds every month.

are you going to argue with them every month to get back the speeds?

it's not going to work unless the company decides to take back this new policy for the entire country.

Certainly. I do agree. I posted my comment only to inform all others affected the new development so that they can also expect relief. This AIRTEL fiasco should open the eyes of TRAI and more importantly DoT and make them more watchful. They must now become more assertive and issue clear-cut notifications to all ISP's, BSNL included, to ensure that in future such mischiefs are not attempted at all.

Let's wait for some more time before we sound the victory bugle. Hearing what cln.1947 just said, I feel like running home from work and checking out if I have been restored to 384 kbps, last I check (this morning), I was still pinned down at 256 kbps.Airtel also said that your speeds will be reset to original speed-plan speeds at the start of your billing period and the countdown would start again. @cln.1947, you might want to check that. Can anyone else confirm if they are seeing restoration of plan-level speeds?

That possibility of starting a countdown freshly again from the start of a new billing cycle is still very much there until and unless AIRTEL comes up with an anouncement that they have really withdrawn the ill-thought out FUP. But it is doubtful that they would be broadminded enough to come out openly with such an announcement.

Restoring the old speed for me by them today (18th) in any case cannot be due to starting a new cycle because AIRTEL billing cycle is from 26th of any month to 25th of the next month.

An unambiguous and strict direction from TRAI at this stage will be very much welcome to allay the fears of one and all.

I just spoke to the Nodal officer regarding my complaint and here are the highlights:

[*]Overall the call was pretty much like any CC call but the person on the other end seemed to know a bit more than a regular CC guy
[*]The Nodal officer CC said that Airtel has recieved permission to go ahead with this policy from TRAI which I refused to believe. I asked them to supply me a copy of the correspondance as I need to take up this issue with TRAI in the name of RTI. They said they will get back to me regarding this.
[*]I asked them how can you come up with a policy which allows you only 10% of the download possible on the spped of the plan and then cut it in half? Again, will get back to you.
[*]In the heat of the moment, I also asked who is Airtel to decide that 15GB or 20 GB is enough for me when I am in an unlimited plan. Again, will get back to you.
[*]I asked them whether this is a countrywide policy, they said yes and then put me on hold to confirm when I said people from NCR are not complaining. They said will get back to you.
[*]I told them all about trying to get a new connection and the salesperson saying no limits and no FUP. They took details of the call and the CC guy's name to investigate.
[*]The best part was this statement from the Nodal officer - "There is a lot of confusion around the FUP and you are not the only one affected. Give us some time and we will get back to you sir."
[/list]I'm waiting for the day I can take this to the Appellate Authority at Airtel and ask plainly whether they are removing the stupid limits and stupid FUP or should I take my downloads elsewhere. That will be the decider for me.

In the meantime, I understand that this is not a countrywide issue for Airtel sa they have not rolled it countrywide but for the people affected, please
KEEP UP THE PRESSURE - IT'S WORKING!!!

have you taken down a complaint number and this guy' name?

if yes, raise a complaint on the pgportal and quote these details and what he said to you about the 'go ahead' from them.

I went to the Tarrifs page for Mumbai - MH & GoaAirtel has removed a lot of plans, Just 4 Plans available now in place of more than 10 earlier, Under Unlimited plans you only have - 256 kbps - In a comboand 512 kbps in a combo. All other plans have been removed :SThis FUP thing & The Voip BlocksI think Airtel is on a roll to get the WORST Indian ISP Trophy immediately after it received honours for Being the BEST.What a pity !!!

I still on the same damn 128 speed from 256kbps. They haven't restored the original speeds. I am from Tamilnadu. They have changed many plans. There is no 128kbps, 256kbps, 384kbps plans. only some combo & 512 & 1mbps UL plans.Bandwidth is unlimited & there is no FUP mentioned anywhere. It seems they are targeting 256kbps users, so that they must pay more than 1000Rs/month to have internet. It also not applied to all india.Only to Tamilnadu, Mumbai, Karnataka, AP, Gujarat, Kerala, Maharastra & Goa they have removed the 256, 384kbps plans. Rest of the states have 256kbps home 799 plans.
