I agree with form followsfunction. This ain't the end yet. If Airtel has printed forms for new customers they aren't going to roll it back so easily :mad:My billing cycle begins on the 5th of next month. So far I haven't reached 10Gb.. around 9.5Gb currently. Lets see if I get capped or not on my 128 Kbps.IF Airtel rolls out the FUP policy I'll surrender the line and upgrade my UL BSNL 256 for a 512 UL BSNL connection. I pay the same amount with both lines combined {around Rs. 1516/-}Let me hit them where it hurts the most. Incidentally I'm the only Airtel Broadband Customer in my Apartment Complex, everyone else is on BSNL including me.

my email to nodalofficer.tn @ airtel.in

Dear Sirs

I am subscribing to AIRTEL 256k speed connection. All of a sudden they have reduced my speed to around 128k without informing me, and they are still collecting charges of Rs.750 per month from me which is applicable to 256k speed only.
I have registered a complaint with AIRTEL and the complaint number is 65441027 dated 18.02.2009.
Please hlep me

Hooray!!! The first media hit of this issue has surfaced: Airtel Broadband users up in arms over download caps on unlimited plans - TechShout

I hope this gets the ball rolling and other media houses take note of the issue as well. This is serious, who the hell is Airtel to tell me that 25GB is enough for me?
you think techshout is main stream media? think again. it's just one of the thousand tech blogs we have online.

Airtel

Get DU Meter for checking ur download and upload

this is useful, I usually use speedtest.net

I have 384/unlimited plan from Airtel. Does anybody have a site or a medium where I can check the size of the total file size downloaded so far, just wanna check If I have exceeded 15 GB limit till date.

True. Ah well, the more coverage the better I guess. Hope this reaches more eyeballs.

Go to airtel website, click login. Enter the user name & password u got from airtel. In the account information page, click the view unbilled usage.
It will the total data transfer on this month.

I checked mine, which showed 36GB 2 days ago. now the same user name & password is not working.:wall:. waiting for CC to response.

@chetanshaTell the nodal officer that a mere 10% (15gbfor 256kbps) usage out the max limit is not excessive and the speed reduction is illegal as Airtel has not taken your prior consent and let them charge you for 128kbps on pro rata basis.
