Airtel Broadband IPv6 Deployment Status

There is no advantage to being a lone IPv6 user. You cannot host any servers, connect to your PC remotely or host games to play with your friends. The change needs to be forced overnight. A bunch of big services like Gmail and Hotmail need to get together say "We will not accept any more incoming IPv4 SMTP connections from today.". This will cause wide spread panic amongst lethargic corporates as their in-house mail servers will no longer be able to send outgoing mail to Gmail and Hotmail and force them to upgrade to IPv6. The average Internet user will remain unaffected since they use the web interface anyway.

Yesterday, I spoke to customer care regarding IPv6 availability and they told that after 1-2 months we have an option to pay ₹900 for the fiber modem and the line will be rewired to fiber, which will support IPv6. I'm not sure about this because a week before the local service engineer told me that IPv6 isn't available yet on airtel and there's nothing planned to support it as of now.

So is anyone here using IPv6 on airtel broadband?

As of now IPV 6 is only trying By ACT in BLR and JiO allover India

I have tested with Jio Wifi and IP version 6 works great. IPconfig shows IP6 address.
Again, I tried with another provider, IP6 worked perfect.
Airtel - IP6 doesnot work.
IP6 is more secure.

Anyway, other than the above problem of IP6 with Airtel, Airtel service is ultimate, you call them and they are at your doorstep within minutes at times if not couple of hrs and connection is never down, quite reliable. To make download speed good, Airtel has make upload speed 1/4 lesser but still it is good enough. It you take plan of X Mbitsps, then X is download speed and not upload speed. Airtel don't mention upload speed on website. You get download speed around 60% of X practically on Cu wire and it is good enough. Upload between 7 to 10 Mbitsps and that is also sufficiently good.

Overall Airtel is good. In my area, Airtel is not having fiber. So do check if in your area they have fiber optics than that will be excellent.

I live in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. No, I don't live in housing society or apartment. It's a building with 3 floors.
