^^ VSNL was one of first ISP's in india so they have huge capacities installed that is why most isp's buy bandwith from them . I think same applies to SIFY and most small scale ISP's as well, they hook up to one of main providers like airtel/vsnl/reliance . MTNL/bsnl is comparatively still new and i am sure they will have their own routes in future . Most of connectivity problems are always at last mile where isp's has no control ( or lazy tech guys ) . What i say is from my last 6 month experience with TATA connection at my home . I got it over lan cable ( pppoe ) so network is managed by some local guys and thanks to them i never have to contact shitty tata customer care .I manage servers for a few call centers with different lines so i do some testing on their lines for latency as it matters a lot in VOIP . VSNL lines has much less latency compared to airtel atleast for USA . I did test on 512 kbps lease lines from both airtel and VSNL , they give SLA for lease line and there is no packet drop or last mile connectivity problems .

it wont be above 512kbpsy because the 2mbps plans have 512kbps as upload rate.

Hmm anywys i still think TATA is an absolute crap..there are a lot of guys in our area who is fed up wid this TATA service and v dont have Airtel in our area, so poor guys need to adjust wid Tata.
