I received 450bx1 today with my new Airtel broadband.
http://192.168.1.1/main.html takes me to the desired page. But when I goto advanced=>NAT=>Virtual Servers; I get internet error page. Same with port triggering. I assume AIRTEL have removed these pages. There is no way I can find my firmware version number or anything. If you have the same setup can you backup your firmware and send me? Any other option? Please show me some hope. HELP HELP HELP .......

modem
- has IP address (192.168.1.1)
- has given IP address to wifi (192.168.1.2)

wifi
- has "own" IP address (eg 192.168.2.1) (other systems may have different IP address)

personal comp
- has "own" IP address (192.168.2.xx)

Port forwarding
Modem - forward port to wifi IP address it has defined 192.168.1.2
WiFi - forward port to personal comp 192.168.2.xx

Do not try to put wifi's "own" address in. (as was earlier in the post b4 I edited it). I don't know why but that worked for 2 days then it took me an additional 2 days, random intervention from airtel, plus lots of help from members of the forum for me to figure out the IP address in the modem port forwarding page was incorrect.

One fine day (sat feb 28th 2009) i try to go onto internet and only the "welcome to airtel" page is visible. Call airtel for customer care ...they say got reset ...don't give reason other than it happens sometimes...as if the company has the whishy washy intellect of a poodle. :@(I really hate it when people don't explain jack) anyway, they tell how to set up so the internet works again (it does). Now I had to go back into Beetel 220BXI modem (1.1 IP address) to restart my port forwarding (to my Linksys WRT300N wireless router (2.1 IP address) - so it can then forward to my computer (2.xx address)) This set up was working fine, but now I can't get it to work for the life of me. I have tried about 3 different ports and I know that the ONLY thing that got messed with was Airtel's modem. Everything else is fine because it WAS working just fine. (I could do this without DMZing anything, without reseting my modem/wireless, without setting modem in bridge mode.) When I set up port forwarding BEFORE the modem got reset, there were, at that point, no changes that had been made to the modem settings, it was set up the same way that the original airtel tech guy set it up when we first got the service. When you spend 5 days researching the same topic, only to have it work for 2 seconds then be taken away because, "oh that happens sometimes...." AHHHHHHHHHHH:wall: help please, otherwise I will be forced to spread nasty rumors about airtel and how the limit traffic and refuse to allow port forwarding. Did this happen to anyone else on saturday?

Most probably, the firmware of the 220BXI got updated automatically thanks to the stupid TR-069 Client service built into the modem. But that's just a guess. Login to the modem and post the Software Version under Device Info. Also, what exactly did they ask you to do to get the net working again. That'll provide some hints. In the meantime, login to the modem, click on TR-069 Client in the left menu and disable everything. Reboot, and try forwarding the ports again. Also try port triggering. Make sure the program using the port is running when ur checking if it's open or not.

I'm thinking the firmware got updated also, but I don't know what it was before, so I had no way of telling.

Save/Apply Button clicked - have not rebooted (don't need to?) see below

Haven't tried rebooting modem yet, as I am on a network which many other people are working off of for the moment.

Program using port was/is running throughout this process, and when I set up the first time it was running throughout set up process then too.

Haven't researched how to set up port triggering - I can try but I have to apply to my modem/wireless/comp set up hopefully without ever having to restart or reboot modem/wireless.

I can research and try ... but in the meantime, do you have any suggestions to setting it back up the way it was working before?

Thanks so much for the response:thumbsup:

thanks for the reply essbebe, and for the screen shot. What I meant was for the program that I am running, port triggering won't work well - if at all (according to the programs website). It will work only with port forwarding. Still looking for answers!

I think what happened in ur case is the firmware got auto-updated from 3.06L to 3.12L and others with 3.12L have reported similar probs with port forwarding:

The thing is, no one has got hold of the 3.06L firmware as far as i'm aware or else you could've downgraded the firmware urself. If anyone is using 220BXI with 3.06L, plz open http://192.168.1.1/look.html and post the firmware filename (should be something with the format T2H-0Q-001, might not be exactly that).
