Hi Every1,I have been going through this forum for quite some time now and it has helped a lot.Today I have a problem regarding port forwarding....I know there are many more posts/threads/blogs/tutorials available for the same....but none seems to help me as of now.And here I am finally with my problem... First about the Hardware - I have a computer and two laptops (one with Vista and one with XP).I have an airtel broadband UL 128kbps connection.Modem is Beetel 220BXI and Wireless Router is Netgear WGR614v7 Now about the network setup.The DSL line is connected to the Beetel Modem. The modem is acting as an ADSL modem as well as a router.(Why am I using this as a router even though having a wireless router, i will let u knw later)The LAN Cable from the modem is inserted in one of the 4 ports of the wireless router.(Not in the INTERNET port)This is done as I am going to use my wireless router as a wireless Access point. Now some of you may question..."Itni akal kyun lagayi"(why did u use so much of ur mind)Reason - I wanted to access the admin page of both the Beetel modem and the Netgear Router so that if I have to do some tweaks in router/modem, I dont have to mess with wires each and every time. ---experienced people's comments needed on this. Now the PROBLEM.I am using UTorrent.The speed I am getting on it is pathetic. On my 128 kbps connection, since morning I am getting speeds of 2mbps, but in UTorrent speed is pathetic 3-4KBps (Max is 13-14KBps) I tried port forwarding in the Beetel modem as well as Netgear Router but am unsuccesful in doing so.Please tell me what all screen shots u want for the same so that the problem can be looked into.

@achopraa
Welcome to Broadbandforum.in

Your figures all wrong. give correct data.
128 Kbps divided by 8 max speed 16 KB/sec
A one MB file may take about a minute to download
This is not a "broadband" connection strictly speaking.
Opt for 256Kbps plan !
All speed tweaking done in the computer.
Try Download DrTCP 0.21 - DR TCP - a internet speed connection optimizer. - Softpedia (NOT for VISTA.)

@achopraa
This is not a \"broadband\" connection strictly speaking.

Accepted - As pe TRAI's current definition.

See below the pic for the speed I am currently getting.

Now this is on my Home699 Plan

and now is the pic for the speed in UTorrent

You might want to try configuring a couple of advanced settings. go to options>preferences>advanced and search for these

Change net.bind_ip to your computer's lan ip. You can find this out by going to cmd prompt and typing ipconfig /all if necessary. I'm not sure about net.outgoing_ip, I think it is for uploads and 192.168.1.1 seems to work fine for it.

Hope it helps

one thing which i observed from the screenshot is that there is only one person seeding for that torrent which could be the reason for slow speed

.@/members/achopraa/..Just now I posted "Three cheers" to Airtel in another thread. ...You are getting 2 Mbps speed on an Airtel 128Kbps , regularly, .... I don't get these speeds with my 256Kbps connection in Chennai....... So some more Cheers to Airtel in Delhi !

It's not just the low no of seeds, the yellow icon on utorrent indicates that the connection is not entirely proper. The first is probably a result of the second.

Please see the below screen shots and try to find where is the error for port forwarding.

MODEM

Netgear ROUTER/ACCESS POINT

UTorrent

Port Check

Acces Point has the static IP - 172.168.1.99
Laptop has the static IP - 172.168.1.51
Subnet Mask is 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway has been set as 172.168.1.1

Please tell if any other info is required.

Since you are using Netgear as an Access Point (Sort of Wireless switch) you don't require a port forwarding on the Netgear Router in your case. But in your case the problem could be that the port forwarding is not working on your modem. 1. Try putting the ip of our laptop in DMZ and then check if the port is opened.2. If step 1 works, then try Port Triggering. You need to trigger the port which is used by uTorrent. 3. If above steps does not work, then make your modem in BRIDGE mode and have your computer initiate a pppoe connection and check if the port is getting open
