So that means that once DD HD is launched in time for the commonwealth games, this STB will work?

HiThus the STB allows one to transfer the recordings, cos the one by Tata Sky doesn't & that was one reason i didn't went for it, say if we have already recorded 100 hrs of program & rather then delete this program we can transfer the already recorded program & empty the Hard Drive and start new recordingsSabir

What you can transfer your recordings to another hard drive? Is that true?

Most probably it cant , else it would have been mentioned as a featureanyone who buys it and is brave enough to do so may try swapping the HDD, it may just work

HDD transfer should not be that hard with a little bit of tweaking. Only thing is would that void the warranty. I am sure they also will provide upgradable Hdd's but it would be much better if someone would come up with a mod. Also even if there is a usb or a Ethernet slot I am guessing it would be possible to transfer data. Has anyone got a chance to check it out ?
It says on the Airtel Website that the HDD is 160 GB. There are also couple of demo's available online here

well i had a word with airtel cc its not HD ready or nor HD so guys if u r buying to see hd content then wait for it or buy snu direct hd as this has HD stb and also hd Content but unfortunately not recording and pause feature. If that would have been there i would have bought sun direct immediatelyso folks time to wait

Whoever buys an Airtel Recorder or Tata Sky +now will be a fool, the wise thing to do is to wait uintil Sep when the DTH operaters start offering their HD DVRs in the market.

People who are buying Airtel Digital Recorder and or Tata(sky + are not at all fools.
Did any DTH operator came and told you that they would be launching HD PVR on September ?
DTH operators may launch HD Receiver and Service on September.
But HD PVRs won't be launching anytime soon or better not even before 2-3 years.
As HD-PVR is not that simple as you people think.
