i did the experiment with airtel iptv. did not turn out to be that good. i have no use for a PVR seriously... i have stopped watching television completely. Airtel IPTV can be blamed for that.

this message is as clear as possible. i tried using PVR with Airtel IPTV. Airtel disappointed me. I have no use for it. I have stopped watching television at all. It is all MY opinion. And I think I am entitled to it.

also.... i am not saying anything 'bad' about airtel dth here coz i have just seen it at some places never used it myself.

but you are claiming untrue things about airtel iptv without ever owning it i assume.

frankly. you need to check out iptv services from airtel before forming an opinion about it.

i personally have no opinion about airtel dth. i stayed away from it because it is not served by the same team that serves the broadband customers. and thus the support is not 'likely to' be as good... notice something. i am just giving my opinion here. not 'claiming' anything.

was it the unavailability of timeshift on certain channels or the service disruptions that caused you to stop using it?
Also which plan are you using now?

i am still subscribed to iptv. wife watches it. i do catch the f1 races like i would tomorrow. annoyances? the glitchy interface which has not been fixed since day one is the primary problem. and the addition of the airtel logo does not help the cause. i never liked DTH services for the same reason. i survived one long year with IPTV coz there was no logo. the addition of the logo was last straw. i am sick of airtel messing around with their IPTV services.

India is dream to have HD services like UK

Uk has sky+ services, threfore its not really that much of a dream. :cool2:
=)

I am with the admin on this one, he has stated his concerns with Airtel's approach and service; since this thread was on Airtel's new offering - he has done his bit to warn potential customers about what may befall them.

I am an existing Airtel DTH customer and even I am not happy with their services and their interface. While I can set my favourites, as soon as I select a channel while browsing my favourites list - I am exited from my favourites and am in the 'all channels' section. Why cant I just surf my own 10-12 favourite channels?

The set top box is buggy as well, sometimes it gets stuck and needs to be turned off to get back to normal. When I called Customer Care yesterday they asked me to remove the AV cables , put it back in and wait for 45 minutes! How the #$!% can removing and replugging av audio cables resolve the hanging issue? When I asked the Customer care guys to stop joking and give me a real solution, they said they will send someone over but will charge Rs 100/- since it is more than 6 months since I have taken Airtel DTH. With this pathetic service, how can I go ahead and buy their Airtel Recorder which is bound to have more service requirements owing to the inherent complications of a DVR. Would they charge me Rs 100/- everytime?

I have reactivated BigTV now, but it seems their server is down, CC guys are crap and do not know anything. They seem less knowledgable about DTH than your friendly neighbourhood paanwallah.

Personally I would wait for an HD PVR offering from Tata-Sky, at least you get what you pay for (my parents and brother have it and not a single complaint till now, even the CC guys are polite and informed - I recharge for my parents often).

WIth Airtel and BigTV, I have just been penny wise pound foolish.

well i discussed each all about DVR from Airtel it has HDMI port this sTB doesnt play HD Channels nor it is HD ready.Bad news guys so no option other than to waitand its other way around Sun direct has HD but not DVRSo again waitlets hope something from Tata Sky or Dish tv

@ admin...

can we able to connect to PC? HD PVR STB? is hdmi is enabled ?

People who are buying Airtel Digital Recorder and or Tata(sky + are not at all fools.
Did any DTH operator came and told you that they would be launching HD PVR on September ?
DTH operators may launch HD Receiver and Service on September.
But HD PVRs won't be launching anytime soon or better not even before 2-3 years.
As HD-PVR is not that simple as you people think.

can the current STB and DVR output hd?

most don't have HDMI port so they will have to take new?
