airtel xstream banners appeared all around my area few days ago as well. i haven't checked with airtel yet if it is now available. i guess i would check if it's available. no plans to upgrade to it yet though.

Here in my area, Airtel FTTH has finally arrived, i.e., wiring has been done and I am eagerly waiting for their call for upgrade. In October, when a field technician was working in my area, I had asked about the the fiber landing in my area and he had predicted 2 months, so his prediction was quite true. You can even ask the contractor people who are laying fiber in other areas about when they are laying in your area. No need to waste time in asking CC people, who will be always clueless about it or just give some time frame so that you hold on to their VDSL/DSL for some more time.

Meanwhile, I am also quite happy with ACT and once Airtel is upgraded to fiber, I will decide which to keep as main connection and which to keep as backup.

Thanks. I actually don't know where are the Airtel's Workers working currently. What city or area you are living in?

If possible, if you could ask your area guy about it? Just to confirm if this 2 Months is random reply or strategic upgrade is planned.

cannot find the number of the local guy. i definitely saved it when he last visited. dunno what happened. would try to call the number on the hoardings installed in my area later today.

I live in Indiranagar, Lucknow, which is a very big colony. More than half of Indiranagar was fiber covered by July-August excluding my area which was irritating me to such an extent that I was calling CC every week and also calling the local technicians who visit my home for complaints. In August, one worker told me that funds have exhausted for fiber laying but it will eventually come as Airtel will replace all copper lines with fiber within a year or so. They told me that fiber has less maintenance and profitable in long run. In October again another worker told me that funds are there now and fiber wiring has started again.

It was one fine day in mid December that I went out of my home to see Airtel marked fiber wires lying in the lanes of my area. When I returned from work, the wires were already clamped on the poles. The next day they installed the white boxes and when I asked the people working, they gave me one month. I again called the field technician who visits me often and he told me that I will be getting a call shortly for upgrade or may be directly they will visit me in case I miss their call because they anyhow will uproot the copper wires before switching to fiber.

I called the number which was written on the Airtel's Advertisement Poster. He is Sales Executive of our Area. (There are multiple, he is one of them)

He told me currently we have only 40 Mbps for your area but for FTTH, work is going on and it will be done in 1-2 months.

I am still doubtful though since I don't see any work of Airtel going on nearby areas or in my areas at all.

@Sushubh Try calling too and ask if it is the same case for you.

There were posters of Airtel 300Mbps plans being available in my area 2 years back. I called the number on the poster and I was told it will take 3 months to get the fiber connection.

Last week when I called the same number, I was told the fiber is available outside my apartment but will need apartment association NOC to install the fiber inside the house. Once they get the NOC, they will do the internal wiring and they can start giving up to 1Gbps.

I asked airtel today via twitter DM if they had plans to come to my area. Even enclosed a pic from Google maps, address& pincode but they can't understand my query. Look like jio is not alone in employing cretins.
