I asked airtel today via twitter DM if they had plans to come to my area. Even enclosed a pic from Google maps, address& pincode but they can't understand my query. Look like jio is not alone in employing cretins.

You have provided over information to them. Just tell them your area in words with State and Pin Code.

I called the number which was written on the Airtel's Advertisement Poster. He is Sales Executive of our Area. (There are multiple, he is one of them)

He told me currently we have only 40 Mbps for your area but for FTTH, work is going on and it will be done in 1-2 months.

I am still doubtful though since I don't see any work of Airtel going on nearby areas or in my areas at all.

I am still looking for someone who can confirm if those 2 Months is a hoax or is it true?

Because I really need good upload speeds. There is no alternative available.

got response from airtel earlier today. ftth is not available in my area. v-fiber is and max speed is 40mbps. so nothing really changed in over a year now. the banners are a scam from the looks of it.

Greetings from Airtel!

This is in reference to your email requesting a connection upgradation for your airtel fixed line number ----------.

Following your request, we checked the feasibility of providing higher bandwidth with FTTH connection at your location. While it is our endeavour to provide superior browsing experience, some areas or locations are not feasible for higher bandwidth. The maximum bandwidth applicable for your location is 40 Mbps with VECTOR technology.

Please note, bandwidth and technology upgradation also depends on distance of your premises from the nearest Remote switch unit (RSU). Owing to certain technical limitations, the requested bandwidth could not be provided at your premises. However, we have noted your feedback on this and should in case the same be made available in future, we shall intimate you through relevant media.

Thank you for choosing airtel.

I live in apartment with 600+ flats and have been waiting for Airtel from last 7 years but yet to see them to cover our area while they have fiber available till 1 km from my society.

Thanks to Act fiber for providing service to us and we don't miss Airtel that much.:sneaky:

Even ACT saved me from those low speeds of Airtel, especially the upload speed. It had rolled out here in March and despite the negative reviews all around in all forums, I went for them. The service has been on par like Airtel till now and my last major complaint regarding speed was lodged in September which was resolved the same day. I can say ACT saved and changed my internet life.

Now with Airtel FTTH just round the corner for me, I will still go with ACT as primary connection until they go horrible like in Bangalore and Hyderabad (feedback as per google/mouthshut or broadband forums only). I do not think they can risk that in Lucknow right now, where they are around 12K connections in a short time frame of 9 months and with so many ISPs with fiber now, anyone can eat up their connections due to bad service.

Excitel was launched here some 2-3 months back and their plans are very attractive, in fact best among the ISPs giving fiber here. Excitel is trying to grab posh pockets where no one had deployed fiber till now and the feedback has been quite positive now.

I also went to one locality recently where Tata Sky BB has dominated and my friend who also has TSBB, was quite satisfied with it.

Another local player by name of Netorious has entered FTTH business recently. This is in addition to Sikka and Tachyon. Their plans on the website do not look very attractive, but the line technicians told me these plans are very old and new plans are very cheap.

Jio Fiber has proved the biggest dud till now in Lucknow. Whoever has the connection is crying, though low end users are happy.

What is the website of Netorius?

I feel Lucknow has much better internet plans compared with Bangalore.
