yeap.
but in the end its putting more restrictions on how we use the cable feed we get in our home. they have more powers to monitor our usage...

umm...with Mbps connectivity we can watch live feeds from any part of the world. Everything is moving to packet switched networks! And dont worry, the Linux / OSS community will always find ways to keep our homes PRIVATE
they would not let us use generic STBs. that would kill all the freedom. trai has to do something about it. i do not want to get restricted to using the crap hardware my isp/tv provider gives me unless i want it.
I also heard that Airtel IPTV is getting launched in December. I was told by my friend in Airtel that it is going to have advanced services that are not normally available over Cable TV and DTH. It might have the following services:a. Broadcast TV for 150 Channels. Going Forward it may have upto 200 channels to choose fromb. Movies on Demand of about 1000c. Music on Demand containing 1000s of songs both video and audio.d. Various Value Added Services like Ticket booking (Airline, Railways, Movies and other stuff), Pizza ordering, Location Search, Internet Radio Stations, FM Stations from various places of the country and others also may come in. For example, you will be watching FM Channels of Bangalore, Chennai, Mumbai and other locations sitting at Delhi. Further you can tune upto 100s of channels of Internet Radio Stations in future and listen via your Hi-fi Audio system. You do not need to have Personal Computer to have lot of these services. Same thing will happen on Reliance IPTV also. Hence, there will be lot of competition in the Media and Entertainment Sector, by which prices will drop, quality of services will improve and customers will have choice.Hope to get a good treat for our eyes and ears.
who said it cannot be launched in Delhi? Considering that Airtel did their tests in Gurgaon, Delhi/NCR would in fact be the first place they would launch IPTV!
i have a feeling that the airtel and reliance will time the launch of their iptv services (atleast in delhi) along with the imposition of CAS in this city...
