Airtel replaced my ONT and now suddenly they're claiming I've exhausted my data cap

"the government doesn't give a fuck about anything unless the elections are near, talking to their ministers and MLAs feels like banging head on the wall. Even the folks at government offices are bunch of idiots who have zero clue about anything." "Now do you see how it is unparliamentary?"

It. Is. Simply. Not. This is an adult forum, not kindergarten. If the word “fuck” offends you more than Airtel’s pathetic service, you’ve missed the whole point of the discussion.

"That behaviour, if allowed to persist, shall and does become the downfall, first of the forum, and largely of societal fabric."

No, it does not.

You are making a mountain out of a molehill.
May I ask what is it you are smoking? Must be really good.

Anyway, I have no interest in arguing with an SJW, let's stop.

Just proving my point... spectacularly.

I do not want to engage in a discussion where reason, thought and understanding is out of the window before beginning the discussion.

84GB on fuped speeds is crazy. I had to switch to excitel on pi to get downloads working. Something is really wrong and of course, it would be impossible to get airtel to actually find the reason. And since I also hit the FUP this month, I can only imagine something crazy is going on.

I do suggest though if possible change the wifi passwords etc. Though it still really makes no sense.

Is anyone here on the 1498/- plan? We were thinking that it might a good time to upgrade the plan. We pay for Netflix/Prime anyway so might as well get a plan where these services come bundled with it. 300 Mbps would be nice as well, and my speed cap will get reset. 2 birds with one stone.

But I wanted to know one thing: Does anyone know if 1498/- has JioHotstar's ad-free plan included in it, or not? My mom is the one who watches her daily soaps on Hotstar and she says the ads are incredibly annoying. I was looking to upgrade or buy some ad-free add-on, on my current Airtel provided Super plan, but I couldn't see any option to do so.

Anyone know anything about this?

Fuck Airtel they deserve much more name-calling.

They were expensive, scammy but their support and service was really good pre jio. Now they are just expensive and scammy.

Only company which doesn't even acknowledge your complaints on Twitter.

Unfortunately we are stuck with monopolies and despite all the issues i have to continue to use their service.

@vpsj maybe your wifi credentials are compromise? Try to change ssid along with password.
And there must be something wrong at airtel end.
As per google you can't use more than 900 mb per hour on a 2 mbps plan.

2 mbps devide by 8
0.25 mb x 60 sec= 15 mb per minute
Max 21.5 gb possible in 24 hours.

tbh. even if his wifi is compromised and someone from neighborhood is using his network... i really doubt someone would take all this effort to download 80+ GBs on 2mbps speeds. something is definitely messed up at airtel's end.

airtel chatbot says fup speed is 1mbps? i really thought they had boosted it to 4mbps at one point of time? maybe not. i guess you are calculating 2mbps on the basis of upload+download speeds? i am not sure if airtel speeds are for upload and download separately.

so it is more like 10.8GB in a day at 1mbps. and that is if you saturate the connection for an entire day. just not possible. so yeah 80+ is just not happening in any case at user's end if the connection is fuped.

I changed the password already and also checked the connected devices. Only my NAS and Deco have connected to the Airtel router and no new device has connected to my Deco (it sends a notification when it does).

And as others have said, even if an external actor was in play, the speeds don't allow for that kind of data usage.

I really am kinda stumped as to what could've happened to show this high of a usage

Please check ALL logs on NAS and Deco, see what happened. Although, since @Sushubh also faced the same thing, we can surmise that some technical glitch is going on at Airtel. Everything will be resolved. Press them for it. If not, you have the option to move out to another and cut the losses.
