@JB700 Please don't use FedEx, they delayed my package for like 11+ days for no fault of mine. They have outsourced KYC processing to some other company and they really tested my patience. I did mention about it in an earlier post -
Important - All international "Gift" packages now liable for customs duty @ 41.2% | Online Shopping
Anyway, as soon as your package is picked up from the origin, most carriers would start sending you messages/emails asking you to submit KYC docs (this is before it even reaches India) to expedite clearance. If you are getting it cleared with an IEC, you need to submit PAN, copy of IEC and probably a declaration as to why you do not have a GST IN (but I think this was necessary because of the clueless outsourced KYC team).
Based on my KYC ordeal, I would recommend that you make sure, your name and address in the shipment manifest are given exactly as in your PAN/IEC. If there is a company name field, make sure it has your name. So I would suggest giving the following in advance to the seller
Name: Same as in PAN and IEC
Company Name: Same as in PAN and IEC (for an individual this would be your name)
Address: Same as in IEC
All carriers have a KYC portal where you can upload documents that would then get reviewed and approved. If there are issues with the docs, they usually call you up or send an email, but you'd usually have ample time before the shipment reaches India. Since I was aware of the need to submit KYC docs, I had submitted the docs even before they notified me about it (but the whole process was delayed due to their crazy KYC team

In my case, as the clearance was delayed, they charged me warehouse charges of Rs 42

But on the bright side for your specific query, it's only Rs 42 even if it gets delayed by 11 days for something on your side

Warehouse charges are collected by FedEx, I don't think customs people care when it gets cleared.
