What about the 510 ? I know its a wp device, but still. I'd second androidfreak on his opinion about micromax. Even I've seen quite a few people have issues with it.

based on what i hear from samuel... wp devices have major issues. games free on android are paid on windows phone store. most new apps are only being coded for wp8. angry birds star wars for example has no wp7 version.of course the number of apps are very few. even fewer for an underpowered device like 510.

Well, then, that brings us back to the question; is a 10k android device with warranty worth it ?@toocool, what about no warranty devices ?

well the point is you would have to accept that there are big compromises when you go for a 10K Android smartphone. the owner in this case would probably not notice anything as she has not used the higher end devices. so i guess a decent android device would be just fine. of course if my mom has used my Galaxy nexus and wants a similar device, giving her a 10K android would not really work for her. would it? :D

have no idea about budget segment models. few years ago i recommended that LG model that was quite popular back then because it was 'supposed to get' the gingerbread update. he hates that phone. i think it never got the promised gingerbread update :D

Try getting a second hand device maybe?

I guess you're talking about LG Optimus One which was selling like hot cakes because of promised Gingerbread update. It did get the update.
