Hi! I want to buy a smartphone for my mother. The one she's using right now is Mi Note 4 (for more than 2 years now). She doesn't have any issues with it as such, but recently she has realized the importance of 'camera', because of Zoom meetings and video calls. Mi has screwed up the operating system over time, so I would really avoid buying an Mi phone. Usage is quite limited to games such as Angry Birds and YouTube.

Well, 10k is the actual budget - I can convince up to 12k. Pushing it to 15k would be much.

Was happy with 10.or E & was fine using it - but it fell & cracked screen. So you can imagine the expectations.

Edit: prefer with good speakers

I have Realme 6i purchased in Aug.2020. I am not a poweruser/ gamer. It was value for money than. 4/64Gb... side fingerprint, 5000mah for 12k than.

Battery is sufficient for one day. Rest everything is ok. get security updates almost every second month. it came with Android 10 is now having Android 11..... one more Android update is expected but will be sure only when I receive it. It does not have LED notification, so it took some time to adjust. Even the torch I feel is not as bright as Honor or Redmi.
And one more thing, it weighs more in comparison to recent Amoled phones.

So the phone is over 3 years old now, thinking of getting her (mom) a new phone.

Requirements:

1. Simple User Interface without advertisements
2. Good battery life
3. Decent camera
4. Compact form factor

The budget situation is more or less the same 12-17k I would say.

Compact form factor is available mostly in premium phones only. Anyway, I recommend Samsung M14 or A14 (particularly during the sale). I chose A1x series after watching this video…

Both M14 and A14 are like bricks. So, both fail in your requirement of form factor.

Edit: initially I had M14. Then migrated to A34 due to IP rating and compact form factor that I got with the new phone. Also, it was available at 20k (8gb model) in gulf. So, bought it through a cousin.

Motorola G 84 5G. I am getting this one for my dad in sometime. You should have an experience with Moto given your younger sibling already uses a Moto device.

For the usage you mentioned, the above device ticks all the boxes. If you want decent water protection with IP68, you can also look for Edge 40 Neo. The 6/128 should cost around 21k with offers and stuff.

Moto G84 5G looks good! I can't believe they are offering a 12GB 256GB variant for 18k.

I guess she will love playing candy crush provided so much RAM on offer. :D
