Android smartphone in Rs. 10000-12000 price segment

So a friend of mine is looking to buy an Android phone. He essentially started with a Windows Mobile based HTC smartphone. Switched to Blackberry. Has been using a featurephone for the last couple of months. Now wants an Android device.
His budget is between Rs. 10-12K. He can at max stretch it to Rs. 14K but not above.
I suggested him to take my Galaxy Nexus for Rs. 10K as I would most likely get the Moto X which it is launched this month or next. But he wants to look at options for new phones.
About him? He is a Facebook addict. Other than that his company uses Google Apps. So, needs are quite basic. I do not think he would be running complex games on the phone. Usable camera would be great.
What would you guys suggest?

I am personally looking at this range (But I am targetting end-2013/2014). But if I had to choose now I would probably choose Xolo Q800/Q700 (around 10k range). But that is because I am not keen on 5" device. If 5" is an option, then we have quite a few 12-13k devices from Spice,Zen, Micromax etc.
And of course, if you are looking at only big brands - Then probably Galaxy Core.
And if you want go for what @v1rus is suggesting, Canvas HD ofcourse is a good choice, I believe there is a detailed thread opened on ownership experience leasantry:

Ok. Three models. Any more recommendations? I would send him the list to compare the devices. How good is the idea of him buying my Galaxy Nexus? Is it a better device compared to these options at 10K price tag? Ignoring the latest Android build as this is not something that bothers him for now.

Flipkart price of Lenovo device you suggested is actually lower than that on eBay!

Aah! Forgot to check Flipkart.
But then the only problem with Lenovo would be the after sales service, which would be more or less the same as Micromax and Lava though.

Lenovo sounds like a great deal. Android 4.1 is an issue for me but should be fine for him. Even cheaper on Amazon India!

The Lenovo phone on Flipkart is not sold by WS-Retail but a third party seller. Just saying.

For me too camera is not a good deal, so I would probably add that Lenovo to my watchout list. But as such it has only 5/0.3 MP camera & dual core instead of quad core. Not a major issue personally, but something to note.

Micromax has a MediaTek Quad-Core. Lenovo has a A9 Dual Core. Now I am not an expert... But I think A9 dual core should be better than a quad core from Mediatek?
